COLLEGE STATION, Tex.
(UPI) — Bananas cost about
the same now as they did 20
years ago, according to a Texas
A&M University marketing
specialist.
“If you consider the increase
in wages during the last two
decades, this means bananas
really cost less than half as
much today in terms of real
income,” said Gwendolyne
Clyatt, a consumer marketing
information specialist.
Bananas must be picked
when green. If allowed to ripen
on the plant they split open and
are tasteless, she said.
