Nine golf tourneys
planned in 1976
The Griffin-Spalding Recrea
tion Department today an
nounced a nine-tournament
season for the Municipal Golf
Course.
The tournaments begin
March 6-7 with a two-man Ft.
Lauderdale.
Another Ft. Lauderdale
(three men and one lady) is
scheduled April 4.
The Griffin Men’s Golf
Association will hold its four
ball tournament in May and the
Griffin Ladies Golf Associa
tion’s Handicap Tournament is
Little League sets
sign-ups 9 try-outs
The Griffin Little League has
completed plans for the 1976
season and set the City
Championship series between
the American and National
Leagues. It will be a best 2-out
of-3 series.
SIGN-UPS
(11 and 12-year-olds)
Griffin Little League sign-ups
for new and old players will be
held at the Youth Center at City
Park on Saturday, March 6,
from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All boys (new boys and boys
from the 1975 teams), age 11
and 12-year-old, must sign-up.
A boy must attain the age of
11 years before Aug. 1, and who
will not attain the age of 13
years before Aug. 1. He must be
accompanied by one or both
parents and must bring a birth
certificate.
Boys from the 1975 season do
not have to bring their birth
certificates.
SIGN-UPS
(9 and 10-year-olds)
All boys 9 and 10-years-old
will sign up on Saturday, March
20, at the Youth Center from 11
a.m. to 6 p.m.
A boy must attain the age of 9
years before Aug. 1, and who

tournament on Thursday, June
17.
The Men’s City-County Four-
Ball Tournament is Sept. 4-6.
The Griffin Ladies Golf
Association will hold its annual
championship tournament on
Oct 11-13.
The annual Turkey Tourna-
certificate.
Little League officials will be
at the sign-ups.
The participation donation is
the same as last year. Players,
9 to 12, are included. The sl2 is
to be paid at the time of the sign
ups. The fee is to help defray the
cost of operating the Griffin
Little League organization.
Insurance is included in the sl2.
The fee is $8 for the second boy
in a family and $5 for the third
child.

The Continental League will
begin play on Monday, May 5,
and end on Thursday, June 19.
All games will be played with
the league tournament
following the regular season.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the
Griffin Little League is for all
mothers of boys who participate
in the Griffin Little League
Baseball program. Mothers are
urged to take part in the active

The Atlanta Braves were scheduled to begin Spring
Training March 1, but owners have postponed the camps
until a settlement is reached with players.
Valdosta
Six Florida State players scored in doublefigures
Tuesday night in the 17th-ranked Seminoles’ easy 106-61
win over Valdosta State, but all eyes seemed to be on 5-8
junior guard Carlton Byrd.
Byrd shot eight-for-nine from the floor, mostly on long
outside shots from the comer, to score 17 points, four less
than sophomore David Thompson’s game-high total of 21.

Lance Brabham bowled a 226
game and a 614 series and Ray
Jackson had a 226 and a 605 and
Curt Pressly rolled a 236 and a
601 last night in the Doc
