Man injured
Richard Wayne Johnson, 25,
of 222 Austin street, suffered
multiple abrasions yesterday
when he lost control of a
motorcycle he was riding on
North Second street.
Police said the cycle traveled
some 282 feet out of control and
struck a curb.
Johnson was carried to the
Griffin-Spalding Hospital
emergency room by ambulance
for treatment. He was not ad
mitted to the hospital.

Griffin police were in
vestigating a burglary at the
Southern Bell building on South
Eighth street.
An employe, Bob Nordan,
reported the break-in. The
building was damaged and
missing items included a
Motorola radio, two jackets and
Doris Duffee, Mrs. Barbara
Glasgow.

borough, Mrs. Jayne Shrader,
John Oden, Mrs. Mary Jane
Samples, Miss Jeanette Leeks,

Walter Philip Goddard, 20, of
1037 Mell avenue, Clarkston,
was arrested by Griffin police
yesterday and charged with
violation of the Georgia Con
trolled Substances Act.

Assembly
Members of the Griffin High
School Co-ed Y-Clubs will serve
special duties while attending
the 31st annual Youth
Assembly.
The Assembly will be held
April 15-17 at the State Capitol
in Atlanta. Youth Assembly is
sponsored by the State YMCA of
Georgia.
The Griffin delegates are
Mary Stephens who will serve
as assistant floorleader of the
House Representatives and
Carol Ellison, who will serve as
assistant doorkeeper of the
House.

Mrs. Wright
The funeral for Mrs. Carrie
Elizabeth Fenley Wright of 412
Irvin avenue was conducted this
afternoon at 3 o’clock in
McDonald Chapel. The Rev.
Brady Blalock officiated and
burial was in Oak Hill
cemetery.
Mrs. Wright died Wednesday
morning at the Griffin-Spalding
Hospital.
Junior-Senior
4-H’ers have
fashion revue
The Junior-Senior 4-H
Fashion Revue was held at the
County Extension office con
ference room with nine 4-H’ers
competing for honors in
clothing construction and
modeling.
Each girl who participated in
the annual event made her own
garment. Each winner and
participant received an award.
Winners in the Junior division
were: Julie Thrasher, first
place; Rhonda Morgan, second
place; and Susan Barbee, third
place.
Senior winners included
Melanie Evans, first place; Judy
Ellis, second place; and Nancy
Horton, third place.
According to Gayle B. Cox,
Spalding County Extension
agent, first place winners will
receive the opportunity to at
tend District Project
Achievement at Rock Eagle 4-H
Club Center in June. There they
will vie for district honors.
Other contestants in the
fashion revue were: Cheryl
Chasteen, Teri Sears and Linda
York. Melissa Fulton and Janet
Drake, Griffin High 4-H’ers,
presided and narrated during
the revue.
