Tomorrow is the dealine for
making reservations for

legislative forum breakfast to
be held at the Holiday Inn at
7:30 a.m.
The event is sponsored by the
Griffin Chamber of Commerce
where tickets may be obtained.
Spalding County’s three
legislators, Sen. Virginia
Shapard, Rep. John Carlisle
and Rep. John Mostiler, will
report on and answer questions
about the General Assembly.
Crime roundup
Robbery
reported
Griffin police continued their
investigation of a robbery which
allegedly occurred Sunday, but
was not reported until Monday
night.
Officers said Richard
Grantham of 622 West Solomon
street told them he was walking
on Solomon street, near the
dumpsters between 10th and
11th streets, when a tall black
man with a full beard ap
proached and hit him on the
head.
The robber took his wallet,
which contained around $35,
and fled, Grantham said.
Police had three reports of
thefts from cars.
A CB radio was stolen from an
auto owned by Ida Bishop of 207
Woodlawn drive while the car
was parked at Orrs Elementary
School.
The radio was valued at $l7O,
police said.
Omar G. Perez of Route
Three, Jackson, reported the
theft of a .22 automatic pistol
and two eight-track tapes from
his car while parked at
Kroger’s.
An eight-track tape player
was stolen from an auto parked
at Majik Market on East
College street. Billy Thaxton of
719 Sherwood drive was the
owner.

Griffin artist Judy Bronkhorst opened an art show today
at the Mclntosh Road branch of Commercial Bank —A
Trust Company. It will continue there dally during
banking hours through Saturday. Mrs. Bronkhorst began
studying art at the age of nine. She studied at New
England School of Art in Boston, Mass., where she
majored in advertising design. She later studied under Ed
Harrington, a new England landscape and seascape
artist. Some of her pen and ink prints and paintings of
Griffin scenes have been displayed in Atlanta art shows.
She particularly enjoys painting and sketching old barns,
depots, grist mills and buildings featuring rustic wood
texture.
Dinner theater
to open tonight
A three-night run of the
dinner theater production, “6
Rms Riv Vu”, begins tonight at
the Dovedown Center.
Reservations for tonight’s
and Friday’s performances
have been closed, but tickets
still are available for Saturday
night.
The event is sponsored by the
Griffin Utility Club and is being
staged by the Footlight Players.
Dinner will be prepared by
Dick Piland, Jr., and will be
served from 6:45 to 8 p.m.
The performance begins at
8:30.
The Grand Jazz Band will
perform during the dinner
period.
Howard Wallace is directing.
Stars are Mary Hurt and Bill
Early.
Members of the supporting
cast include Gayle Morgan, Sue
McManus, Sydney Wynne,

Mr. Glass
Mr. Daniel Lanier Glass, a
former resident of Griffin, died
Wednesday morning at the
Veterans Hospital in Augusta
where he had been a patient for
the past several years.
Mr. Glass was a native of
Williamson, son of the late
Storman S. Glass, Sr., and the
late Jewel Moore Glass. He was
a veteran of World War Two.
Survivors include six sisters,
Mrs. E. C. Sitton, Mrs. Roy
Glass, both of Griffin, Mrs. John
Bond of McDonough, Mrs.
James Carlton, Mrs. Margaret
Kenny, both of Augusta and
Mrs. Rodney Bither of Fort
Campbell; three brothers,
Harold D. Glass, Carl Stanley
Glass, both of Doraville and
Linwood Glass of Macon.
The funeral was conducted
this afternoon at 4 o’clock in
Pittman Rawls Funeral Home
chapel. The Rev. Johnny Curry
officiated and burial was in Oak
Hill cemetery.
Mr. Vaughn
Mr. Oliver Vaughn of 309
North Fourth street died
Wednesday morning at his
residence.
Survivors include a daughter,
Mrs. Mildred Lee and two
grandchildren, all of Min
neapolis, Minn.
Other survivors and plans will
be announced by Miller’s
Funeral Home.
Mr. Daniels
The funeral for Mr. C. H.
(Butch) Daniels, 31, of 611 Lane
street will be conducted
Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock
in the Achaia Baptist Church.
The Rev. E. H. Hatchett will
officiate and burial will be in
Rest Haven cemetery.
Miller’s Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.

Tickets are being sold by all
members of the Griffin Utility
Club and are available at Flint
River Regional Library,
Prothro’s, Music Scene and at

Poll says
they’re happy
BRUSSELS, Belgium (UPI)
— The happiest Europeans are
unmarried men and women
living together, according to a
Common Market poll.
The results, published Wed
nesday, was one of several
eyeopeners in the poll of 9,500
persons aged 15 and over on
women’s place in European
society.
On the subject of general
happiness, the largest group of
persons describing themselves
as “very happy” — 23 per cent
— were unmarried men and
women living together.

The Griffin Chapter of the
National Women’s Council of
Realtors named Joy Merriam,
1975 president, outstanding
member of the chapter and
recipient of the state award.
Also Mrs. Merriam was
named 1975 sales leader by D.
Bartlett Searcy, president of
Searcy Murray Realty, Inc. for
negotiating the highest volume
of sales.
The agent is a graduate of the
Realtors Institute, an instructor
of basic real estate at Gordon
Junior College, and is serving
