Deaths -F unerals
Mr. Raglin
The funeral for Mr. J. C.
Raglin of 520 East Solomon
street will be held Saturday
afternoon at 2 o’clock from the
Eighth Street Baptist Church.
The Rev. M. M. Solomon will
officiate and burial will be in
Rest Haven cemetery.
Survivors include three
daughters, Mrs. Eleanor
Jackson of Bowling Green, Ky.,
Miss Willie Mae Raglin of
Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs.
Felicia Lovett Nash of Griffin;
four sons, John Lee Raglin,
Alfred “pap” Raglin, both of
Griffin, Robert U. Raglin of
Pittsburgh, Pa., and Frank
Raglin of Atlanta; two sisters,
Mrs. Willie Mae Berry of Griffin
and Mrs. Louise Jackson of
Fla.; a brother, the Rev. M. L.
Raglin of Atlanta; 21 grand
children, two great
grandchildren, several nieces
and nephews.
Friends may visit the family
at the residence, 520 East
Solomon street. Friends and
relatives are asked to assemble
at the residence not later than 1
p.m. Saturday. McDowell
United Funeral Home is in
charge of plans.
Mr. Parks
The funeral for Mr. John H.
Parks of Atlanta, formerly of
Pike County, will be held
Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock
from the Fairfield CME Church
in Hollonville. The Rev. C. R.
McKenzie will officiate and
burial will be in the church
cemetery.
McDowell Walker Funeral
Home of East Point is in charge
of plans.
Mr. Griggs
Mr. Walter L. Griggs of Route
one, Gay, died Thursday af
ternoon.
He was a member of the Mt.
Sinai Baptist Church in Gay.
His survivors include a
daughter, Miss Florine Griggs.
Funeral plans and other
survivors will be announced by
Union Society Funeral Home of
Concord.
Pocketbooks
figure
in thefts
Two thefts involving
pocketbooks were reported to
Griffin Police.
Faye Elaine Hester of
Riverdale reported she left a
pocketbook unattended in a
waiting room at the Griffin-
Spalding Hospital. She said SSO
in cash and some credit cards
were in a billfold taken from it.
Kathy Cook of 801 East
Solomon street reported
someone grabbed her
pocketbook and ran out of the
door at Parkwood Cinema.
Mrs. Velma Mioey of 1003
Lyndon avenue reported
someone shot out the rear
window of her auto parked at
her residence. Police figured
the window was shot with a BB
gun.
Mrs. Dorothy Farley of 501
Bell street reported the theft of
her daughter’s bicycle from her
home.
Mrs. Turner
Mrs. Jesse Clara Crumbley
Turner, 77 of Union City, Ga.,
died Thursday.
Mrs. Turner was a longtime
resident of Griffin, moving from
here in 1950. She was a member
of the New Hope Baptist Church
in Fayette County.
She is survived by her
husband; a daughter, Mrs.
Leroy Thompson of Forest
Park; two sons, Frank
Crumbley of Macon and David
Crumbley of Austell; four
stepdaughters; seven stepsons;
a sister, Mrs. Forest Hickman
of Forsyth; several grand
children and great
grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted
this afternoon at 3 o’clock in the
New Hope Baptist Church in
Fayetteville. Dr. Richard Lee,
the Rev. Glenn P. Higgins, Sr.,
and the Rev. Clarage Tucker
officiated. Burial was in the
church cemetery.

charge of plans.

Hughes will
BERKELEY, Calif. (UPI) _
The University of California,
which stood to net millions
under the so-called “Mormon”
will of Howard Hughes, says its
own examiners rejected the
document’s validity.
The university said Thursday
findings of its document exam
iners “do not support the claim
that the alleged will was
written by Howard Hughes.”
