Crime report Man charged with theft of auto Harry Louis Ward, 23, of 329 North First street, has been charged with the theft of an auto. Griffin police said he was occupying a car owned by Bobby Pyron of 206 Brawner street. William C. Huff of 205 Melrose < avenue reported the theft of a i 30-06 rifle from his residence, i Deaths -F unerals Mr. Abbott Mr. Julius Lee Abbott, 66, of Route three, Griffin died Thursday morning at the Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta where he was transferred from the Griffin-Spalding Hospital Tuesday. Mr. Abbott was a native of Lamar County and had made his home in Spalding County for 40 years. Mr. Abbott was the son of the late John Thomas Abbott and the late Mary Lillie Stumps Abbott. He attended the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. He was for 30 years employed at Lowell Bleachery, retiring in May. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Opal Kelley Abbott; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Brooks and Miss Annie Abbott, both of Griffin; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral was conducted this afternoon at 3:30 o’clock in Haisten’s chapel. The Rev. Eugene Walton officiated and entombment was in Oak Hill mausoleum. Haisten Funeral Home was in charge of plans. Mrs. Barbre Mrs. Birdie Barbre died at the Phoebe Poutney Hospital in Albany Thursday night. Her survivors include a stepson, Tom H. Barbre of Griffin. The funeral will be conducted Saturday morning at 11 o’clock in the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Albany also. Kimbrell-Sterne Funeral Home is in charge of plans. Mr. Brown Mr. Prince Albert Brown of 927 West Wall was dead on arrival at the Griffin-Spalding Hospital this morning. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby Brown. Funeral plans and other survivors will be announced by McDowell United Funeral Home. A 16-year-old boy was charged with burglarizing a railroad box car and stealing numerous cases of beer from it. Mr. Puckett, Jr. The funeral for Mr. Andrew Puckett, Jr., of 609 North Hill street will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Corinth Baptist Church. The Rev. W. H. Steverson will officiate and burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery. Friends may visit the family at 1321 Edgewood avenue. Millers Funeral Home is in charge of plans.
