The Golden State Warriors outscored the Atlanta Hawks
132-98 last night in NBA action in Atlanta. Golden State
Coach Al Attles said the win over Atlanta gives the
Warriors some badly-needed confidence.

The Houston Oilers took a 20-14 win over the Atlanta
Falcons yesterday at Houston, Texas. Houston’s John
Hadi completed 18 of 26 passes and fired two touchdown
tosses.
Georgia
Georgia Coach Vince Dooley said Georgia Tech beat
Notre Dame and came close to beating Georgia Saturday.
Georgia edged Georgia Tech 13-10. Dooley said in these
words, “If we didn’t have a championship team we’d have
lost to Tech.”
Race
Al Holbert guessed wrong on his fuel supply yesterday
and blew his chance to win the Camel G-T 250 car race at
Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach,
Florida. But Holbert still managed first place in the final
international motor sports association Camel G-T series
national point standings.

Dooley admits it was a gamble
when Georgia ran on a fourth
and-one play late in Saturday’s
game against Georgia Tech.
But he could afford to be
philosophical about the play
since the Bulldogs made the .
first down and set up the last
second, 33-yard field goal by
Allan Leavitt that gave Georgia
a 13-10 victory.
“The fourth down play was
one of those where if you didn’t
make it, or if you make it and
then fumble on the next play,
you’re dumb,” Dooley said.
“But I didn’t have any
decision to make. We only
lacked about a foot or so. I was
almost 100 per cent sure we
would make the first down
because we have never been
stopped from getting it in a
situation like that.”
Saturday’s victory gave
fourth-ranked Georgia a 10-1
record to take against top
ranked, unbeaten Pitt (11-0)
when they meet in the Sugar

Year’s Day.

scored 10 points in a 5:14 span

go for the touchdown. Danny

of his extra points and we only
make about one-third of our
fourth-and-goals at the two.”

stunning upset of Notre Dame.
“We played our hearts out,”
Tech defensive back Eddie
