Stop using laetrile
MARIETTA, Ga. (UPI) — A Marietta physician, who
allegedly uses the drug laetrile for treating cancer
patients, has been asked by Kennestone Hospital
authorities to stop that practice.
Dr. Robert Shuman, an anesthesiologist at Kennestone
for 20 years, said he was told the hospital would suspend
his privelege to practice at the facility if he continued
using laetrile.
Body found
HINESVILLE, Ga. (UPI) - The body of a 46-year-old ,
Ft. Stewart Army Base employe, missing from her home
since late Friday, was found by hunters Saturday in a
heavily wooded area near here.
Liberty County authorities said Marian Kallquist had
been stabbed eight times — seven times in the chest and
once in the neck. There was no sign of a sexual assault and
the single woman’s body was fully clothed.
Miss Kallquist was last seen alive Friday as she left her
civil service job at Ft. Stewart, authorities said. She was
reported missing from her home later that evening.
Officers said the victim’s car was found about a quarter
of a mile from the murder scene on U.S. 82 between
Hinesville and Midway.
Pair indicted
ATLANTA (UPI) — An Atlanta man and woman have
been indicted for the Oct. 16 murder-for-hire slaying of the
woman’s husband.
A Fulton County grand jury returned the indictments
against Diane Denise Bryant, 23, and Benjamin Wayne
Henderson, 22.
They were charged with conspiring to kill Joseph
Eugene Bryant 111 as he worked as a security guard at a
local youth development center.
Mrs. Bryant allegedly paid Henderson $1,500 for the
slaying, according to district attorney Lewis Slaton. The
plot was uncovered when Mrs. Bryant allegedly tried to
hire someone to kill Henderson for $2,500.

When asked why he decided

said, “It was just something I

“The only things he ex

after his second attempt at
suicide by overdosing on
barbiturates. A day earlier,
said Stanger, Gilmore was
“groggy, weaving around” in
the aftermath of swallowing a
lethal dose of phenobarbital in
his death cell.
The suicide attempt came a
day after Gilmore received his
third execution date for the
July murder of a Provo motel
clerk —a date which left him
furious.
He asked Fourth District
Court Judge J. Robert Bullock
to allow him to die today, but
Bullock refused and set the
execution for sunrise, Jan. 17.
Bullock said state law re
quired that an execution take
place 30 to 60 days after
imposition. Gilmore tried to
waive the delay, but Bullock
stuck with the 30 days.
The killer criticized the
judge.
