Miss Foster
Miss Margaret Foster of
Jackson died Thursday
morning at her residence.
Miss Foster was a member of
a pioneer family of Butts
County, daughter of the late
William Foster and the late
Mamie Fletcher Foster. She
was a member of the
Fellowship Presbyterian
Church in Butts County.
There are no immediate
survivors other than several
cousins.
The funeral was conducted
this afternoon at 3 o’clock from
the graveside in the Fellowship
Presbyterian Church cemetery.

officiated. Haisten Funeral
Home of Jackson was in charge
of plans. *
Mrs. West
Mrs. Jewell Myrle Gregory
West, 63, of Barnesville, widow
of Mr. Russell Lowell West, died
Thursday night at Upson
County Hospital in Thomaston
where she had been a patient for
10 days.
Mrs. West was bom in Pike
County, daughter of the late
Milton Francis Gregory and the
late Florence Butler Gregory.
She had lived in Atlanta for a
number of years, moving to
Barnesville recently. She was a
retired U. S. Post Office
employe and was a member of
the Baptist Church.
Survivors include three
brothers, John Frank Gregory
of Rockwood, Tenn., James
Edward Gregory of El Paso,
Tex., and Ralph Butler Gregory
of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister,
Mrs. W. B. Britt of Barnesville;
several nieces and nephews.
Funeral plans will be
announced by Haisten Funeral
Home of Barnesville.
Mr. Scandrick
The funeral for Mr. Edward
Scandrick, 64, formerly of
Griffin, will be held Sunday at
the Macedonia Baptist Church'
in Brooks at 2 o’clock. Burial
will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Ethel Mae Scandrick of
Barnesville; and a brother,
William Scandrick of Atlanta.
Friends and relatives are
asked to assemble at the funeral
home by 1 p.m. Sunday.
McDowell United Funeral
Home is in charge of plans.
Mr. Eldridge
Mr. Clyde Howard Eldridge,
92, of Barnesville, died early
Friday morning at his residence
after several years of declining
health.
Mr. Eldridge was bom in
Columbus, Ohio and had resided
in Barnesville for over 60 years.
He served as manager of the
town of Aldora until his
retirement several years ago.
Mr. Eldridge was a member of
Pinta Lodge 88 of Masons and
was a honorary member of the
Rotary Club. He was a member
of the First United Methodist
Church where he served as
church treasurer for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Nevelie Matthews
Eldridge of Barnesville; two
sons, Clyde Neville Eldridge of
Barnesville and Albert
Matthews Eldridge of Austin,
Tex.; three grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren; a
sister, Mrs. Jessie Mae
Eldridge Harvil of Logansville.
The funeral will be conducted
at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon
in the First United Methodist
Church. The Rev. Max Wall and
the Rev. Dan Brewster will
officiate and burial will be in
Greenwood cemetery. Haisten
Funeral Home of Barnesville is
in charge of plans.
Mr. Noble
The funeral for Mr. John
Noble will be held Sunday at 11
o’clock in the chapel of
McDowell United Funeral
Home.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Joanne Noble; a daughter,
Miss Shelia Noble; father, Roy
Noble; stepmother, Mrs.
Beatrice Noble, all of Griffin;
three sisters, Mrs. Marie
Shanrk of Atlanta, Mrs. Willie
Mae Ogletree of Cleveland,
Ohio and Mrs. Nellie Sinder of
Griffin; nine brothers,
including Charlie Noble of
Jackson.
Friends may visit the family
at 117 Quincy street, home of
Mrs. Beatrice Noble. McDowell
United Funeral Home is in
charge of plans.
Jeff Wright,
music director
Jeff Wright, son of Mr. and
Mrs. C. E. Wright, has accepted
the position of music director of
Sunny Side Baptist Church.
Wright is attending Georgia
State University where he is a
music major. He will begin his
duties this Sunday.

fellowship service will begin at 2:30

will have special services Sunday with
the Rev. C. C. Johnson of Winston as
guest minister, J. D. Madaris is the
pastor.
50th ANNIVERSARY
The Spalding County Emancipation
celebration will be held at Oak Grove
Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 2
p.m. The Rev. J. H. Miller will be the
guest speaker. J. S. Dickerson is
chairman.
OPEN HOUSE
The Griffin Historical and
Preservation Society will hold open
house Sunday at the Lewis-Mills home
on North Hill street.
WATCH NIGHT SERVICE
A watch night service will be held
tonight at the First Congregational
Holiness Church, on West Mclntosh
road and Highway 92. The guest
minister will be the Rev. Charles Dial,
superintendent of home missions and
evangelism and the Rev. Bill Lewis,
assistant superintendent of home
missions and evangelism. Slides of
singing groups will be shown also. The
Rev. Lewis James is the pastor.
Southern Railway
pays county taxes
Southern Railway Company
has announced payment of 1976
ad valorem taxes totaling
144,340 to Spalding County, for
itself and its subsidiary, the
Central of Georgia Railroad
Company.
Southern operates 2,775 miles
of railroad in Georgia. In 1975

reaffirmation
The Faith Temple Assembly
of God Church will hold
“Reaffirmation Sunday” Jan. 2.
Ten couples will renew their
marriage vows in a
demonstration of their strong
belief in the institution of
marriage.
An announcement of the event
stated: “We believe at Faith
Temple Assembly of God
Church that God instituted the
family and He showed us the
first step of perfect unity.
Because of this, we have set
aside Jan. 2, 1977 as
“Reaffirmation Sunday” at
Faith Temple.
The public is invited to attend
and, if desired, to take part in
the “reaffirmation.” Faith
Temple is located on North
Ninth street in Griffin. Dr.
Leonard Sapp is pastor.
