Mrs. Black
Mrs. Ella Whitten Black of
Griffin died Saturday at the
Griffin-Spalding Hospital.
Mrs. Black was bom in
Franklin County and had lived
in Griffin for the past 27 years.
Her survivors include 2
daughters, Miss Da Mae Black
and Miss Willena Black, both of
Griffin; 5 sons, James P. Black
of Gainesville, Howard V. Black
of Waycross, Clifford P. Black
of Columbus, Milton Black and
Curtis Black, both of Griffin; a
sister, Mrs. Rosa Thrasher of
Atlanta; 2 brothers, Eller
Whitten of Atlanta and Frank
Whitten of Turnersville; 9
grandchildren, 3 great
grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews.
The funeral was Sunday af
ternoon at 4 o’clock in
McDonald Chapel. The Rev.
Gilbert Howard officiated and
burial was in Oak Hill
cemetery.
Mr. Walker
Mr. Noah Lynn Walker of
Jonesboro died Sunday in Butts
County.
Mr. Walker was bom in
Hamilton County, Fla., and had
lived in Griffin for four years
until moving to Jonesboro 3
weeks ago. He was a con
struction worker.
His survivors i nclude his
mother, Mrs. Ruth Walker of
Flovilla; father, Matthew
Walker of Griffin; 3 sisters,
Mrs. Peggy Pollard, Mrs.
Joanne Pledger and Mrs. Kelley
Jean Jones, all of Griffin;
grandmother, Mrs. Emmie
Arnold of Flovilla; a brother,
Charles Walker of Griffin.
The funeral was this af
ternoon at 2 o’clock in
McDonald Chapel. The Rev.
Bob Jones officiated and burial
was in Griffin Memorial Park.
Mrs. Barkley
The funeral for Mrs. Millie
Barkley of Atlanta, formerly of
Griffin, will be held Wednesday
afternoon at 2 o'clock from the
Unionville United Methodist
Church. The Rev. J. T. Jewel
and the Rev. Homer Turner will
officiate. Burial will be in the
church cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter,
Mrs. Lizzie Turner; 2 sons,
Robert Barkley of Atlanta and
John Barkley of Griffin;
several grandchildren and
great grandchildren.
Spalding Undertaking Co., is
in charge of plans.
Mr. Helms
The funeral for Mrs. Lee Ann
Helms of Atlanta was conducted
Monday morning at 11 o’clock in
McDonald Chapel. The Rev.
Everett Moore and the Rev.
Roy Vaughn officiated and
burial was in Liberty Baptist
Church cemetery.
Mrs. Helms died June 27 in
Atlanta. She had lived in
Spalding County all of her life
and was a member of the
Orchard Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar
Helms of Jackson; 2 sisters,
Miss Elecia Helms of Jackson
and Miss Loretta Helms of
Atlanta; a brother, Richard
Helms of Jackson; grand
mother, Mrs. Hollis Gamer of
Griffin; a son, Edgar Shane
Helms of Atlanta.
Mr. Milner, Sr.
Mr. James William Milner,
Sr., of Banks road died
Saturday at the residence of his
mother.
Mr. Milner was born in
Randolph County and had lived
in Griffin for most of his life. He
was employed by Martha Mills
of Thomaston.
Survivors include a son,
James William Milner, Jr.;
mother, Mrs. Ruby Starr;
stepfather, Earl Starr; 2
brothers, Gary Milner and Leon
Dickens all of Griffin; and
grandmother, Mrs. Lilie
McCharge of Thomaston.
Graveside services were
conducted this afternoon at 4
o’clock in the South View
cemetery in Thomaston. Rev.
Ralph O’Hair officiated.
McDonald Chapel was in charge
of plans.
Mr. Dickerson, Sr.
The funeral for Mr. Lewis
Dickerson, Sr., of Griffin was
held Sunday afternoon at 2
o’clock at the Achaia Baptist
Chruch. The Rev. H. T. Hat
chett officiated and burial was
in Rest Haven cemetery.
Survivors include 3
daughters, Mrs. Cornelia D.
Grand, Mrs. Glodilor Mays,
both of Griffin and Mrs. Ruth D.
Hughes of Cleveland, Ohio; 2
sons, Lewis Dickerson, Jr., of
Cleveland and M. C. Dickerson
of Atlanta; a sister, Mrs. Luella
Smith of Griffin; 10 grand
children, 1 great grandchild and
1 great great grandchild.

Mr. Hunter
Mr. James McKinley Hunter,
53, died Saturday night in the
Colquitt, Ga., hospital. He had
been a patient at the nursing
home in Donaldsonville for
several months.
Mr. Hunter was a native of
Atlanta, son of Mrs. Eula
McDaris Hunter Hogan and the
late Hobert Hunter.
Survivors include his mother
and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Ty
C. Hogan of Griffin; half
brother, Clinton Hogan of
Walled Lake, Mich.
The funeral was conducted
this morning at 11 o’clock at the
East Griffin Congregational
Holiness Church. The Rev.
Leeco Smith officiated and
burial was in the Sunny Side
United Methodist Church
cemetery. Haisten Funeral
Home was in charge of plans.
Mr. Eady
The funeral for Mr. Rufus
Robert Eady, 46, of Pine Hill
Trailer Park, was conducted
Sunday afternoon at 3:30 in the
chapel of Haisten Funeral
Home. The Rev. Calvin Berry
officiated and burial was in the
Midway United Methodist
Church cemetery.
Mr. Eady was dead on arrival
at the Griffin-Spalding Hospital
Saturday morning.
He was a lifelong resident of
Spalding County, son of the late
John Fletcher Eady and the late
Ludie Eady Smith. He was an
employe of Griffin division,
Thomaston Mills.
Survivors include 4 brothers,
Oliver Eady, J. F. Eady, Alfred
Eady and Bobby Lee Smith, all
of Griffin.

Mrs. Millican
Mrs. Lillie Jefferson Millican,
widow of Mr. Earle E. Millican,
Sr., died Monday night in
Chattanooga, Tenn.
Mrs. Millican was a native of
Emerson, Ga., daughter of the
late Mr. James Thomas Jef
ferson and the late Agnes Park
Jefferson. She had made her
home in Griffin for 50 years.
Mrs. Millican was a member of
the First Baptist Church where
she served on the library
committee for several years
and the building committee.
Survivors include 2
daughters, Mrs. Augustus H.
Frye, Jr., of Chattanooga,
Tenn., and Mrs. W. B. Grimes,
Jr., of Charlotte, N.C.; a son,
Earle E. Millican, Jr., of
Griffin; and 9 grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wed
nesday afternoon at 2 o’clock
from the graveside in the new
section of Oak Hill cemetery.
Dr. Bruce M. Morgan will of
ficiate. The family requests that
in lieu of flowers those desiring
may make donations to the
library of the First Baptist
Church. Friends may visit the
family at the home of her son
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Earle E. Millican, Jr., 1126
Pine Valley road. Pittman-
Rawls Funeral Home is in
charge of plans.
Mr. Daniels
Mr. Tuezester Daniels, 15, of
1528 North Hill street, died
Sunday at the Kennesaw
Hospital at Marietta.
Survivors include his mother,
Mrs. Virginia Daniels.
Funeral plans and other
survivors will be announced by
McDowell United Funeral
Home.
