Miss Cheryl Harmon
marries Mr. Weldon
Miss Cheryl Lynn Hannon
and Mr. William Clyde Weldon,
Jr. were united in holy
matrimony at the Senoia
Baptist Church on September 30
in an impressive candlelight
ceremony. The bride’s father
performed the double ring
ceremony in the presence of the
immediate families.
The bride is the daughter of
the Rev. and Mrs. Winston H.
Harmon, Sr. of Senoia and the
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence E. Hightower and Mr.
William R. Harmon and the late
Mrs. Alma B. Harmon, all of
Griffin.
The groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. William Clyde
Weldon, Sr. of Griffin. He is the
grandson of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Henry L. Sherwood of
McDonough, Ga. and the late
Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Weldon of
Covington, Ga.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore an ivory
gown of bridal satin appliqued
with French alencon lace and
featuring long sleeves which
came to a point over her hands.
The scalloped horseshoe
neckline was accented with
sheer lace and embroidered
with seed pearls. A wide lace
trimmed hemline highlighted
the A-line skirt which swept into
an attached chapel length train.
To compliment her gown, the
bride wore a sheer illusion
mantilla veil bordered with lace
and pearls, accented with
matching flowerettes. Her
nosegay bouquet featured ivory
roses, stephanotis and baby’s
breath.

Miss Mary Regina Harmon,
serving as maid of honor for her
sister, wore a floor length rust
colored jersey gown with long
sleeves and an empire bodice,
accented with a cowl neckline.
She carried a bouquet of two
long stemmed ivory rosebuds,
baby’s breath, fem and rust
colored satin streamers.
Mr. William Clyde Weldon,
Sr. served as best man for his
son. Ushers were Mr. Michael
brother-in-law of the
groom, of Norcross, Ga. and
Mr. W. Henry Harmon, Jr.,
brother of the bride, of Hender
sonville, Tenn. Mr. Hannon
also lit the candles.
Mrs. Frank Hollberg, Jr.,
organist, presented a program
of nuptial music chosen by the
bridal couple, including “There
Is Love,” “Speak Softly, Love,”
“Somewhere, My Love,” “The
Lord’s Prayer” and the
traditional wedding marches.
For her daughter’s wedding,
Mrs. Harmon chose a floor
length gown of shrimp colored
Quiana with long sheer sleeves
which tied at the neckline. She
wore a white orchid corsage.
Mrs. Weldon, mother of the
groom, wore a light blue full
length gown with empire bodice
and matching jacket. Her gown
was complimented with a white
orchid corsage.
Immediately following the
wedding, the bride’s parents

After a brief wedding trip the
couple is residing in Norcross,
Ga. The groom, who is a
graduate of Georgia Tech, is
employed as a computer
programmer with the C & S
Bank in Atlanta. The bride, who
received her degree in
secretarial science at Griffin
Tech, is employed as secretary
to the director of Unem
ployment Insurance at the State
Department of Labor in
Atlanta.
Griffin High School.
Mr. Greene attended Griffin
High School and is presently
employed with Dundee Mills.
The wedding will be held
November 19 at 3:30 at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby L.
Greene, Sr. All friends are
invited.

Miss Jean Hardwick,

A. Hardwick, became the bride
of Mr. Phillip Pilkenton,
son of Mrs. Nola A. Pilkenton
and the late Mr. Harvey
Pilkenton. The Rev. Hartwell
Kennedy performed the single
ring ceremony on October 1 at 2
o’clock in the afternoon in a
garden wedding at the home of
the bride.
The bride was given in
marriage by her father. Sjie
wore a floor length gown of off
white silk organza featuring a
V-neckline, outlined with Venise
lace, and short bishop sleeves.
The A-lined skirt was accented
with matching lace edging. She
wore an elbow length veil of
illusion of lace over the entire
veil. Her only jewelry was three
tiny opals in gold settings, a gift
from the groom. The bride
carried a nosegay of yellow
daisies and white carnations.
Her only attendant was Miss
Terri Kathy Hardwick, sister of
the bride. She wore a floor
length gown of yellow cotton
voile with yellow flowers im
printed. Soft lace outlined the
gown. In her hair she wore
matching silk organza flowers
and carried one long stemmed
yellow rose.
Mr. Dickie Pilkenton, brother
of the groom, served as best
man.
The mother of the bride wore
a rose empire styled dress with
matching jacket and a corsage
of three yellow roses.
The mother of the groom wore
a brown and black pin striped
dress and a corsage of three
yellow roses.
Following the wedding, Mr.
and Mrs. Hardwick entertained
with a reception.
The guest book was kept by
Mrs. Paula Pilkenton, sister-in
law of the groom.
Miss Heather Kennedy, niece
of the bride, of Marietta, Ga.
and Master Jody Pilkenton,
nephew of the groom, of Griffin,
passed out rice bags.
Assisting with the reception
were Mrs. Effie Hardwick of
Griffin, aunt of the bride, and
Mrs. Janice Kennedy of

late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Skrine of Richmond, Ala.
He is a graduate of Troy State
University and was a member
of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
He is presently employed at J.
C. Penney’s.
The wedding will be at 7 p.m.
on Saturday, November 19 at
Teamon Baptist Church. All
friends and relatives are in
vited.

Oscar Leverett of Griffin.
The bride-elect is a 1976
graduate of Griffin High School.
Miss Leverett is presently
employed with the office of Dr.
T. G. Smaha in Griffin.
Mr. Elder is the grandson of
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Elder of
College Park and the late Mr.
and Mrs. J. W. Hogan of Griffin.
He is a 1975 graduate of
Griffin High School and is
Marietta, sister of the bride.
After their wedding trip to
Gatlinburg, Tenn, and various
points, Mr. and Mrs. Pilkenton
are residing at their home on
Terry Drive.
