Wood alcohol can be made
from sawdust, peanut shells,
cotton gin trash, branches or
tree tops that aren’t used in
lumber production, Lovins said
in an interview here.
“In 25 or so years, we may

work in the lab,” he said. “You

chew up the wood into forms

“However, the process we
would now use is called py

He said vehicles now can use

“It’s a much cleaner, more

he said. “It’s not quite as con

Smoke, fog
hampers 1-75
traffic
TIFTON, Ga. (AP) - State
troopers Sunday said motorists
should avoid Interstate 75 be
tween Adel and Valdosta from
midnight to 8 a.m. this week,
particularly if the weather is
overcast, because of a smolder
ing, underground peat moss
fire.
Fog held smoke from the fire
close to the ground Saturday
morning and authorities said
the lack of visibility caused a
four-car crash in which a 22-
year-old Macon man, Joseph
Price, was killed.
After the 5:25 a.m. wreck, the
state patrol in Tifton closed
until 8 a.m. a 30-mile stretch of
1-75 between Adel and Valdosta.
A spokesman said Sunday the
smoke and fog combination was
less extreme early, but added,
“We’re still keeping an eye on
it.
“We don’t expect it to get bad
unless it gets real overcast," he
said.
Authorities expect the under
ground fire will bum itself out
this week. Meanwhile, troopers
are advising drivers to use U.S.
41 during the morning hours.
