Bonds pass
in mock
GHS vote
Three bond issues were ap
proved in a mock election
conducted this morning at
Griffin High School.
The approximately 1,746
students attending today were
asked to vote on the same
questions that will be presented
to the voters of Spalding County
Tuesday.
The wording on the student
ballot was the same as it will be
on the official ballot.
Students were read the
following announcement prior
to the voting:
“In homeroom you will
receive an imitation ballot of
the school bond. Remember you
are voting for your future
children of Griffin. Also
remember that if it passes you
would have a burden of taxes. It
could cause hardships and
inflation on you but are your
children ? Do you think we need
new facilities for your children
in the future?”
On the new high school
proposal, the vote was 1,165 for
and 218 against. The stadium
vote was 1,145 for and 228
against. The vote for the cold
storage facility was 1014 for and
