I have within the last two years hsd an op
portunity of seeing several cases of very mve
terate ulcers, which having previously resist
ed the regular modes of treatment were
healed by the use of Hr. Swrim’s Panacea,
and 1 do believe, from what I have seen,
that it will prove an important remedy in scro

Dear Sir—You expressed a wish th*t 1
would give a concise statement of my suffer
ings, from ‘ the hopeless commencement, to
the present propitious stage of my disease *
About five years ago, on my passage from
Bordeaux, during the month of January, from
imprudent exposure on deck, I was seized
with a violent fever. Having no medical at
tendants on board, I was compelled to bear
it, as I might for two weeks, when on my ar-
‘ival at Charleston, S. C. it was treated as
Typhus. The skill of my Physician subdued
the fever, but Pl.ocnix-Vike, the termination
•ff this gave rise to a disease equally distress
ing, and which, till now. I had thought incut~
able. Various abscesses made then unwcl-
ome appearance, particularly on the j >‘.nts,
which were swelled to an enormous size.—
These gradually subsided into hard tumors,
one of which on my left knee affected ti e
bone—an incision was now made ana s large
evacuation of nus, mixed with pieces of bone
took place. In addition tothis, I suff red the
most excruciating pains in my joints that mnn
ever experienced. Every thing that was
administered either gave me no relief or ser
ved to aggravate the disease, the severity of
which increased with every succeeding year.
Such was my painful si nation that 1 despaireti
of ever being restored to my heal h j ihad
not only tried the e rular means of relief,
but used, though in vain, every popular rem*
edy I could hear of It was in this awful and
despond<ng condition,that 1 was persunded to
commence a course of your Vegetable *V.h I
iron, and the happy result is, •*/ om the use
of the two b dtlcs my whole system has under
gone a complete revo ution, my pains have fo eu*
ke me the discharge from my knee beg n
o dimmish, and soon ceased altogether, h
ulcerTrom whence it proceeded being com
pletely healed. The tumors, for the removal
of which I have tried in vain more remedies
than 1 can name, are rapidly decreasing ; my
appetite, which wasgon^nas returned—Ian
in fact, nearly well, and ftel confident that a
few bottles more of your, (to me) invaluable
medicine, will m* ke me per ectly so.
