Dear Sir—You expressed a wish that 1
would give a concise statement of my suffer
ngs, from * the hopeless commencement, to
the present propitious stage of my disease.'
About five years ago, on my passage from
Bordeaux, during the month of January, from
imprudent exposure on deck, I was seised
with a violent fever. Having no medical at
tendants on board, I was compelled to bear
it, as I might for two weeka, when on my ar
rival at Charleston, S. C. it whs treated as
Typhus. The skill of my Physician suhduid
the fever, but P! oenix-like, the termination
of this gave ris» to a disease equally distress-
mg, and which, till now, I had th ought incur*,
•ble. Various abscesses made thei' unwel
come appearance, particularly on the j .unts,
which were swelled to an enormous fcize.—►
These gradually subsided into ha r d tumors,
one of which on my left knee affected the
bone—-an incision was now made and a Ivrge
evacuation of nus, mixed with pieces of bone
took place. In addition to this, 1 suffered the
most excruciating painn in my joints that men
ever experienced. Every thing that whs
administered either gave me no reliefer ser
ved to aggravate the lisease, the severity of
which increased with every succeeding year.
Such whs my painful si uation that 1 de-.paireu

Sir—In consequence of imprudent expos
tire fo ie 1 ears ago I hid the misfortune »o be
come : ffl cted with a disease, the painful re
suits of which induced me to apply in suc
cess on to several respectable physicians of
this city, from whom, however, I received
either no relief, or from whose remedies I re
ceived another complaint quite as distressing
s the former. My whole ayste-t became a -
fected. I could get no rest at night on ac-
ount of the violent pain that I felt in every
part nf my body ; the weakness and emacia
tiop of which was auch that 1 could scarcely
walk. In this state I fortunately heard of
your vegetable catholicon- four bottles of
which, has completely restored me, I have
now no pain; my appetite is good; and m\
strength restored With many thanks for
‘lie relief your medicine haa given me, I am
your obliged friend, &e.

Sir—I am now, thanka to your medicine, a
hearty mat. F ir nearly aix years I have been
a martyr to a disease, whose ravages threat,
ened, if not soon stopped, to put a period to
my existence. Having had no regular medi
cal advice from tbe commencement, my
complaint at last got to auch a height that I
could nnt swallow without great pain and
difficulty,. Tumors formed in different parts
of my body, and 1 began to think my situation
almost desperate, The five bottles of the
Catholicon which I have taken have com
pletely cured me, and 1 am nuw aa well i
