Her boilers rest upon tue guards projecting over the water from each side oftlie boat. This leaves the deck entirely unobstructed, and forms what may be called a promenade deck. The space usually occupied by the boilers, is converted into convenient and elegant dressing rooms. Should any acccident happen to tiic boilers, the water would bo thrown directly into the river, and not in the luast endanger the passengers. The object of this latter state is, in seeking to establish the claim, to be a* ble to mtoke a port, of entry at Powles Hook to own and let out tho fisheries on that shore and to avoid the quarantine laws.— But these objects, injurious as they would be both to this state and to the revenue of the general government, would he even less pernicious than the facilities which would be given by an ideal water line bounary, to every sort of robberry, depredation and crime on the Hudson.
