H. M’MUltntlE, If- O. . Phi ude 'phia, July 28th, 1824. Mr. W W. Potter, Dear Sir—You expressed * wir.li that I would give a concise statement of my suffer ing*. from * the hopeless commencement, to the present propitious stage of my diseuae * About five years ago, on my passage from Rntdeaux, during the month of January, from imprudent exposure on deck, 1 was seized with a violent fever. Having no medical at* tcndnnts on board, 1 was compelled to bear it, as 1 might for two weeks, when on my ar- ival at Charleston, S. C. it was treated as fyphus. The skill of my Physician subdued the fever, but Pi.acnix-like, the termination of this gave rise* to a disease equally distress ing, and which, till now, I had thought incur- uble. Various abscesses made their unwel come appearance, particularly on the joints, which were swe’led to an enormous size.— These gradually subsided into hard tumors, one of which on my left knee affected the bone—an incision was now made and a large evacuation of r>us, mixed with pieces of bone took place. In addition to this, I suffered the most exciuciating pains in my joints that man ever experienced. Every thing that was adminialered cither gave me ro relief «r ser ved to Hgg'avate the JiBea.e, the severity of whi h inn rased wi’b every succeeding year. Such Wdi'tny painful si.up.lion that 1 despaired of ever being restored lo my heal h t l had not only tried the te/ulsr means of relief, but used, though in vain, every popular rem* •dy 1 could hca> of* It was in this awful and despond 1 ng condition, that I was persuaded to t.ommence a course of your Vegetable Daih •! •non, and the happy result is, **fom the use of the two bottl s my whole system has under gone a comp el , revo ution, my pains have fo s i- )ce meg* the discharge from my Knee begun o d.m.ntsh, aiH s«o; ceased altogether, ihe ilcerfrom . Iu-*,ce it proceeded being com pletely healed. The tumors, for the removal of which 1 have tried in vain more remedies than I can nfcmc. are rapidly decreasing ; my appetite, which tv«s gone, has returned—I am in fact, near'y well, and feel confident that a few bottles more of yvur, (to me) invaluable medicine, will rnnke me perfectly so. Your oblig 'd friend, THOMAS BROWN, JR. Philadelphia, July '6, 18"4. My confidence in the v-geuhle catholicon undiminish'vd, and hb fresh in Ituiccs of its powers aro daily occurring, in my own pruc- lice. I have no hesitation in recommending it, in the pecuiiur diserses to which it is applica ble, as superior to any reme !v l am acquaint ed with. M. M’MUIO HIE, M. D. Philadelphia, May 28,18 4 Sin—In conrequence of imprudent expos ure four vears Rgo. I hud the misfortune to be- :ome > {fi cted with a disease, the painful rr suhsot which induced me to apply in suc cession to severul respectable physicians of ihis city, from whom, however, I received cither no relief, or from whose ren ed es I re ceived another complaint quite as distreasing is the former. My whole system became a*- fectcd. 1 could get no rest at night on ac -bunt of the violent pain that I felt in every pait of my body / the weakness and e nacia tion of which was such that I could scarcely walk. In this state 1 fortunately heard of your vegetable catholicon- fi,ur bottles of which, has completely restored me, I have now no pain; my appetite is good { and my strength restored With many thanks for ihe relief your medicine has given me, I am your obliged friend, &c. WILLIAM WILSON. Sworn aod subscribed to btfoie me, May 28, 1824 JOHN BINNS, A derman. Philadelphia, May 28,18?4. 8!*—I am now, thanks to your medicine, a hearty mat. F *r nearly six years I have been a martyr to a disease, whose ravag.s threat ened, if not soon stopped, to put a period to my existence. Having had no regular medi cal advice from the commencement, mj complaint at last got to such a height that! could not awallow without great pain and difficulty. Tumora formed in different parts of my body, and I began to think my situation almost desperate.
