Potter, Dear Sir—You expressed a wish th^t 1 would give a concise statement of my suffor ings, from * the hopeless commencement. t r the prerent propitious stage of my disease' About five years ago, on my passage from Uordeftux, during the month of January, from imprudent exposure on deck, 1 was seized with a violent fever. Having no medical at tendants on board, I was compelled to bear it* as I m g'it for two weeks, when on my ar rival at Charleston, S. G. it was treated as Typhus. In addition to this, I suffered the most excruciating pains in my j tints that man ever experienced.
