Mr. JF- IF. Potter,
Dear Sir—You expressed a with that I
would give a concise statement of my suffer
ings, from * the hopeless commencement, to
the present propitious stage of my disease.’
About five years ago, on my pasaage from
Bordeaux, during the month of January, from
imprudent exposure on deck, I was seized
with a violent fever. Having no medical at
tendants on board, I was compelled to bear
it, as I rn-ght for two weeks, when on my ar
rival at Charleston, S. C. it waa treated aa
Typhus, The skill of my Physician subdued
tile fever, but Phsma-ltke, the termination
of this gave ria* to a diaeate equally distress
ing, and which, till now, I had thought incur
able. Various ahacessea made their unwel
come appearance, particularly on the jointa,
which were swelled to an enormous size.—
These giadualiy subsided into hard tumors,
one of which on my left knee affected the
bone—an incision wii now made and • large
evacuation of pus, mixed with pieces uf bone
took place. In addition to tliia, I suil'eied the
most excruciating paint in my jointa that man
ever experienced. Every thing that was
administered either gave me no reliefer ser
ved to aggravate the disease, the severity of
which increased with every succeeding year.
Such was my painful situation that I despaired
of ever being restored to my heal hi I had
not only tried the regular meant of relief,
but used, though in vain, every papular rem
edy 1 could hear of- It was in thia awful and
dtpspond-ng condition,that I wu persuaded to
uommencfc a course of your Vegetable Gath I
icon, and the happy result is, •*/ am the use
of the two bottlco, my whole system has tender
gonea complete revo titian, my pains have fo *a-
keii me;” the discharge from my knee began
to diminish, and aoon ceased altogether, tbe
ulcerfrom whence it proceeded being com
plelety healed, Tbe tumori, for the removal
of which 1 have tried ia vain more remedies
than I can name, are rapidly decreasing > my
appetite, which wu gone, has returned—I am
in fact, neir’y well, and feel confident that a
few bottlea more of ycur, (to me) invaluable
medicine, will make me per ectly to.
Your obliged friend,
THOMAS BROWN, JR.
Philadelphia, July r 6, 1874.
My confidence in the veget able catbolicon
ia undiminishvd, and aa fresh in tanees of its
powers arc daily occurring, in my own prac
tice, I have no hesitation in recommending it,
in the peculiar diseases to which it is applica
ble, as. superior to any remedy I am acquaint
ed With. M. M’MUU I RIE, M. D.
Philadelphia, May 28,18 4
Sin—In eonrequenee of imprudent expoi-
ure four vears ago, I hud the misfortune to be
come tffl cted with a disease, the painful re-
sulis uf which induced me to apply in suc
cession to several respectable physicians of
tbia city, from whom, however, I received
either no relief, or from whosq remedies I re
ceived another complaint quite at distteuing
aa the former. My whole system became a 1 -
fected. I could get no rest at night oo ac
count of the violent pain that I felt in every
part of my body; the weakness and emacii
tion of which wak such that I could scarcely
walk. In thia atate I fortunately heard of
your vegetable catholioon-four bottlea of
which, hu completely restored me, I have
oow no pain i my appetite ia good ( and my
strength restored With many thanka for
the relief your medieme hu given me, I am
your obliged friend, Ac.

my existence. Having had no regular medi
cal advice from the commencement, my
eomnlaint at last got to aueh a height that !
could not swallow without great pain and
difficulty. Tumor* formed in different parts
of my body, and I began to think my situation
almost drape rate. Ihe five bottlee of tbe
Catholicon which I have taken have com

could wish to be. With my thaaka. am your
