Mr. tV- IF. Potter,
Bear Sir—You expressed a wish that I
would g'vc- a concise statement of my suffer
inj;s. from ‘the hopeless commencement, to
the present propitious stage of my disease ‘
About live years ago, on my passage from
Rurdeauv, during the month of January, from
imprudent exposure on deck, 1 was seized
with a violent ftfver. Having no medical at
tendants on board, 1 was compelled to bear
it, as I m’g'it for two weeks, when on my ar
rival at Cliurleaton, 8. Cl it was t ested at
Typhus. 'I he skill of my Physician aubdu
the fever, but Fl aeaix-like, the termination
of this gave ris^ to a disease equally distress
ing, and which, till now, I had thought incur*
able. Various abscesses made their unwel
come appearance, particularly on the joints,
which were fwedtd to an enormous size.—
These gradually subsided into hard tumors,
one of which on my left knee effected the
bone—an incision whb now made and a large
evacuation of nun, mixed with pieces of bone
took place. In addition to this, I suffei ec the
moat excruciating painnin my joints that man
ever experienced. Every thing that was
administered either gave me no relief ser
ved to aggravate the disease, the severity of
which increased with every suoceeding year,
finch was ny painful si uuliun that I despaired
of ever being restored to my hcslh; Iliad
not o ily tried the erular mean* of relief,
but used, though in vain, every popular rem*
edy 1 could hem of It wes in this a\> ful and
despondmg condition, that 1 was persuaded to
commence a course of your Vegetable Ua,h I

gone a complete revo ulion, my pains have fo ta

deer from whence it proceeded being com
pletelj horded. The tumors, for the removal
of which 1 have tried in vain more remedies
than l can rame, are r-pidly decreasing ; my
appetite, which was gone, has returned— I air
in fact, near > well, and feel confid ent that 8

either no relief, or from whole remedie. I re

part of my body,- the weakuesa and e-tacia

walk. In this state I fortunately heard uf
your vegetable catholicon-four bottles of
