There is pei haps no medical observation
better established, none more generally con
firmed by the experience of the best physici
ans of all apes and countries, and none ot
norr- importance to the human family, than
1 he fact that many of the most difficult and ill
nimble consumptions originate in neglected
colds.. Inicliniatesovariableasours, where
the changes of the weather are frequently
sudden and unexpected, it requires more care
and attention to guard against this dangerous
enemy of life, than most people imagine or
are able and willing to bestow. The bills o :
mortality exhibit tne melancholy fact that the
proportion of dentta by this disease may bt
considered as about five to one. Inaamuch
then as this fatal disease frequently bjds defi
ance to the skill of the most learned phyaici
ans, it is a gratification to the proprietor that
lie is enabled to oiler to those afflicted with
it, a goodly prospect of relief, in that highly
valuable remedy, the Vegetable Indian Speer
fie. The Indians are luppy in their know
ledge of medical plant»; governed wholly hy
xperience, they are certain is to their effhet,
and it is said by in author of grest eharacter,
that a true consumption is ■ disease never
known among them.
This Specific is obtained by extraction from
herbs, rootr, flowers, pimp, See. when in per
fection. In consequence of a happy c vibina-
ion of the most valuable herbs, he. it becomes
-< balsam of a auperior value. It belli the in.
jured parts, opens the pores, and composes
the disturbed nerveij,' oner the manner of an
anodyne,- consequently the obstruction ol
the chest and the lungs wbich constitute tb,s
disease, particularly need its use. It promotes
expectoration, which is constantly called for,
and whilst it cleanses and heals, it also gives
ertngth to the tender lungs. In this manner
it removes the hectic fever, improves diges
tion, gives strength to the nerves, repairs the
appetite and improves the spirits. This speci
fic may always be given in safety it is mild,
pleasant to the taste, and may safely be givan
o infants, for which it is of inestimable value.
It affords relief in bowel complaints, teething,
whooping coughs, ilc. and is found ptrticu-
i Tty useful in hypochondriacal, nervous and
hysterical diseases. Each bill of direction
ontains a detailed account of this disease in
ell its different stages, and will be accompa
