Mr, W- W, Potter, Dear Sir—You expressed I wish that would give a concise statement of my sudor- iiigs, from' the hopeleaa commencement, to tbe present propitious stage of my disease.’ About five years ago, on my pataage fl-om Bordeaux, during the month uf January, from imprudent exposure on deck, 1 was seized with a violent fever. Having no medical at tendants on board, I waa compelled to bear it, u I might for two weeka, when on my ar rival at Charleston, S. C. it waa treated as Typhus. Tbe akill of my Physician subdued the fever, but Phanix-like, the termination of thia gave rite to* disease equally distress ing, and which, till now, I had thought incut- able- Various abscesses made their unwel come appearance, particularly on the joints, which were swelled to an enormous size.— These gradually subsided into hard tumors, one of which on my left knee affected the bone—an incision waa now made and a large evacuation of ous, mixed with pieces of bone took place. In addition to this, I suffered the moat eacruciating pains in my joints that man ever experienced. Every thing that waa administered either gave me no relief <-r ser ved to aggravate the disease, the severity of which increased with every aucceeding year. 9uch was my painful si .uation that I de, paired ofeverbciug restored to my heath; Iliad not only tried the regular means of relief, but used, though in vain, every popular rem edy 1 could hear of- It waa in this awful and despondmg condition, that I was persuaded to commence a cou-ae of your Vegetable f'-.ili I icon, and the happy result is, am the me of the two bottles, my whole system has utuler yonea complete revolution, my pains huvcfo *n- Iren methe discharge Irom my anee began io diminish, and soon ceased altogether, the ulcerfrom whence it proceeded being com pletely healed. The tumors, for the removal of which I have tried in vain more remedies than I can name, are rapidly decreasing; my appetite, which was gone, haa returned—I an> in fact, nearly well, and feel confident that a few bottles more of your, (to me) invaluable medicine, will mike me perfectly to. Your obliged friend, THOMAS BROWN, JR. Philadelphia, July "6, 1824. My confidence in the vegetable catholicon ia undiminiahvd, and aa fresh in-tances of its powers arc daily occurring, in my own prac lice. I have no hesitation iu recommending it in the peculiar diseases to which it is applica ble, as superior to any remedy I am acquaint ed with. M. M’MUR l U1E, M. D. Philadelphia, May 28 18 4 Sim—In consequence of imprudent expos ure four veara ago, I had the misl'urtune to be come afflicted with a disease, the painful re aul<s of which induced me to apply in tuc cession to several respectable pliyaicians of tills city, from whom, however, I received either no relief, or from whose remedies I re ceived another complaint quite as distressing ss the former. My whole system became a - fected. 1 could get no rest at night on ac count of the violeot pain that. I felt in every part of my body; the weakness and emacia tion of which wa* such that I could scarcely walk. In this state 1 fortunately heard of your vegetable catholicon—four bottles ol which, baa completely restored me, I have now no pain; my appetite ia good; and my strength restored With many thanks for the relief your medicine has given me, I am your obliged friend, be. Having had no regular medi cal advice from the commencement, my complaint at last got to auch a height that I could not swallow without great pain and difficulty.
