True extract from the min-ttes, 27th Octo ber, 18’4. JOHN BAILEY, Clerk. nov 4 87 Are Dear Sir—You expressed x wish that would give x concise statement of my suffer ings, from ’ the hopeless commencement, to tbe present propitious stage of my disease.’ About five years ago, on my passage from Bordeaux, during the month of January, from imprudent exposure ira deck, 1 was seised with s violent fever, Having no medical at tendants on board, I was compelled to bear it, tsl might for two weeks, when on my ar rival st Charleston, S. C. it was treated is Typhus. Tbe skill uf my Physician subdued the fever, but Phonix-like, the termination of this gave rise to a disease equally distress ing, and which, till now, I hail thought incur, able. Various abscesses twude tbeir unwel come appearance, particularly on the joints, which were swelled to an enormous size.— These gradually subsided into hard tumors, one of which on my left knee affected the bone—an incision was now made snd a large evacuation of nus, mixed with pieces of hone took place. In addition to this, I suffered the most excruciating pains in my joints that man ever experienced. Every thing that was administered either gave me no reliefer ser ved to aggravate the disease, the severity of whieh increased with every succeeding year. Such was my painful si ualion that I despaired of ever being restored to my heal h s I had not only tried the regular means uf relief, but used, though in vsin, every popular rem. edy I could hear of- It was in this awful and despondmg condition, that I was persuaded to commence a course of your Vegetable Caih ,1 icon, and the happy result is, “/ om the use nf the two bottles, my vihole tyslem hat under gone a complete revo ulion, my paint h.,vefo-n~ keo methe discharge from my knee began lO diminish, snd soon cessed altogether, the ulcer from » hence it proceeded being com pletcly healed. The tumors, for the removal of which I have tried in vain more remedies than 1 can name, are rapidly decreasing ; my appetite, which was gone, has returned —I aoi in fact, nearly well, and feel confident tint a few bottles more of your, (to rne) invaluable medicine, will nuke me per eclly so. Your obliged friend, THOMAS BROWN, JU NO HUE. JOM - BINNS, Alderman. Philadelphia, May 28,1824. TO SOUTHERN PLANTERS. The Vegetable Catholicon ii peculiarly adapted tu those dileases which are prevalent among the coloured population of the south In that disease which is called yaws, it is a Hire remedy; a tingle trial.uf* it, will convince planters of its superior efficacy to any reme dy of a similar nature in the Uuited States- NOTICE. The advantages of this medicine are, not confining tbe patient unnecessarily to the house, or keeping him from hit business.— With one solitary exception, that of apirito. on; liquors, it does not lay any restrictions upon hio appetite It iibo gentle in its opera, ion <hat the p tient finds himself getting well he cannot tell how. As it is not the wish ofthe proprietor to take any thing lor which be cannot give a consideration equal in value, persons it s distance who may wish to try nis medicine, but who are not certain if it he applicoble to their complaint, are request cd to describe their case and symptoms in a letter, post-paid, and directed to him—this letter will be immediately placed in hinus fully competent to decids the question.— Should ihe remedy not seem to suit the dis ease, they will be frankly told so. CAUTI IN TO prevent disappointment it is well to state that it takes inordinary cases from 3 t 5 bottles to effect a cure so that pei sons wh are labouring under any serious infirmity, must make up their mind to persevere to that extrnt at least—if they do not, they might as well save themselves the trouble and expense f using! smaller quumitv. My confidence in the vegetable catholicon is undiminishud, and ns fresh in-Unces of its powers urj daily occurring, in my own prac tice I have no hesitation in recommending it, in the peculiar diseases to which it is applica ble, as superior to any remedy I am acquaint ed with. M. M’MUUTliiE, M. D. Philadelphia, May 28,18 4 Sib—In consequence of imprudent expos ure four veara ago, I had the misfortune to be come nfilcted with a disease, the uainful re sults of which induced me to apply in suc cess 1 on to several respectable physicians of this city, from whom, however, I received cither no relief, or from whose remedies I re- ceived another complaint quite aa distressing ia the former. My whole system became af fected. 1 could get no rest at night on ao count of the violent pain that I felt in every part of my body / the weakness and emacia tiou of which waa such that I could scarcely walk. In this state I fortunately heard of ynur vegetable catholicon-four bottle* of which, baa completely restored me, I have now no pain \ my appetite is good t and my strength restored With many thanks for the relief ynur medicine has given me, 1 am your obliged friend, &c. WILLIAM WILSON. Sworn and aubicr hed to b> lore me, May 28, 1824 JOHN B1NNS, A derman. Philadelphia, May 28,18"4. Sir—I am now, thanks to your medicine, a uearty mat. Fur nearly six years I have been a martyr to a disease, whose ravage threat* ened, if not soon stopped, to put a period to my existence. Having had no regular medi cal advice from the commencement, my comnlaint at last got to such a height that I could not swallow without great pain and difficulty. Tumors formed in different parts of my body, and I began to think my situation almost desperate. The five bottles of the Catholicon which I have taken have com pletely cured me, and I am now at well aa I Georgia Camden County.
