Britain. It' is of much greater importance than most of the inventions of the kind which have as yet been offered to the public. A moderate sized one will raise water from a ship’s hold, thirty feet, at the rate of two tons a minute. It will preserve ships from deeuying, as, by ventilation, it keeps them sweet.
