H. M’MUKTKIE, M- D. Philadelphia, July 28<A, 1834. Mr. IF- W. Potter, Dear Sir—You expressed a wish that 1 would gives concise statement of my suffer ings. from ' the hopeless commencement, to the present propitinus stage of my dise.se.’ About five years ego, on my passage from Bordeaux, during the month of January, from imprudent exposure on deck, 1 was seised with a violent fever. Having no medical at tendant* on board, I wm compelled to bear it, MI might for two weeks, when on my ar rival at Charleston, 8. C. it was treated as Typhus. The skill of my Physician subdued the fever, but Plmniix-like, tbe termination of this gave rise to a dineaae equally distress ing, and which, tiff now, I had thought incur able. Various abscesses made their unwel come appearance, particularly on the joints, which were swelled to an enormous size.— These gradually aubsided into hard tumors, one of which on my left knee affected tbe bone—an Incision was now made snd a large cvacuntion of pus, mixed with pieces of bone took place. In addition to this, I suffered the most excruciating pains in my junta that man ever experienced. Every thing that was administer'd either give me no relief or ser ved to aggisvate the disesve, the severity ol which increased with every succeeding year Such was my painful ai'uation that I despuirei. of ever being rewtored to my heal ti 1 I hid not only tried the reirular meana of relief, but used, though in vsin, every popular rem edy 1 could hear of It was in this awful and despond-ng condition, tliat I was persuaded to ,.nmm once i course of ynur Vegetable Ohlh.-I icon, snd the happy result is, “fom the use of tbe two bottles, my whole system has under gonra complete revo udon, my pains have fovsa. ke a me,-” the discharge from ray knee begin to diminish, and soon ceased altogether, the ulcer from „ hence it proceeded being com pletelv healed. The tumors, for the removal of which I have tried in vain more remedies turn I can name, are rapidly decreaaing ; my appetite, which was gone, has returned—I am in fact, nearly well, and feel confident that a few bottles more of your, (to me) invaluable medicine, will make me penectly so. Your obliged friend, THOMAS BROWN, JR. Philadelphia, July 26, 1824. llv annfidence in the vegetable catholic™ is tmdiminislivd, and as fresh inrtaoces of its powers sr«i daily occurring, in my own prac.- tice. I have no hesitation in recommending it, in tbe peculiar diaeasrs to which it is applies, ble, as superior to any remedy I am acquaint ed with. M. M’HUUTRIE, M- D. Philadelphia, May 28,1824 Six—In consequence of imprudent expos ure four vesrs ago, I had the misfortune to be■ come afflicted with a disease, the painful re sults of which induced me to apply in suc cession to several respectable physicians of this city, from whom, however, 1 received either no relief, or from whose remedies I re ceived another complaint quite as distressing as the former. My whole system became af fected. I could get no rest at night on ac count of the violent pain that I feit in every psrt of my body ; the weakness and e-nacis tion of which wss such that I could scarcely walk. In this state I fortunately beard of your vegetable catholicon—four bottlea of whieh, has completely restored me, I have oow no pain t my appetite is good i and my strength restored With msny thanks for the relief your medicine has given me, I am your obliged friend, be.
