HOME MISSIONARY ANO AMERICAN PAS.
TOR'S JOURNAL.
TO FRIENDS it SUBSCRIBERS.
I NDIVIDUALS to whom tho Nos. of tho
" Home Mission ark" have been ditec-
lod gratuitously, the Inst year, either con
stantly or occasionally, have had sufficient op
portunity to judge of its merits; and, from
the many gratifying testimonials wo have re
ceived of the estimation in which the work ie
held, it is presumed that our roadors general
jy would rejoice to see,itBcirculation exten
ded. They will not be offended, therefore, if
we suggest to them the great importance of
their exerting a little, friendly agency to this
end*
The number of subscribers for the first vol
nrao, was as large ae we had any reason to
anticipate, in bo short a time. Besides sup
plying theses wo were enabled, by the libor-
ol donation nfgSOO, by the Rev. Dr. Oodmnn,
towards defraying tbo expenses ofthn work,
the first yoaf, to Bend it without charge, to
the Missionaries Of the Society, to contribu
tors of matter for publication, and a number
of the frietlda of Mission®. Thus an edition
of more than 4.b00 of ench monthly No. has
carried the interesting story of the blessing
of God upon tho operations of the Society, to
a multitude of readers in all parts of tho Gnu
ted Statca; and to some in other countries,
whose grateful acknowledgments have been
received. The good that has been in this
way effected no mind can estimate.
Wn have fixed the price of the work, (one
dollar per year,) tho lowest at which if. can
possibly be afforded, that it might be within
the ability of all classes of readers to pay.—
But the present number of subscribers
nt this reduced price, is - not Sufficient to
pustaia the publication ofso large an edition ;
and the influence of the work cannot contin
ue to be what the importance and magnitude
of its object demands, wit hodt an effort on tho
part of its friends, to EXTEND ITS CIR
CULATION.
Individuals, therefore, to whom the work
has been sent, and who have a desire to rpi.
ceive if hereafter, are requested to forward
their names; with the price, io advance, of
tho second volume; and those who may in
terest themselves to obtain other subscribers,
will thcroby aid the funds of the Society, and
greatly subserve theenuaeof Home Missions,
The above work is published in the city of
New York. Edited by Rev. Absalom Pe
ters, Cor. Sec, of tho American Home JSlis
gionary Society—Price, gl per year, in ad.
vance.
Persons disposed to subscribe, are reques
ted to Ifc&ve their names at the Book Store of
Mr. T. M. Driscoll, where a neat specimen
