terday had tho pleasure in company with
several Ladies and gentlemen, of examining
at Reotor street wharf, the now ship Brio, "
Capt Punch, (late of tho Franco) built by'*
M. Bergh for the proprietors of tho 2d lino
of Havre Backets. The Erie is 450 tons bur
then,.bililt of the boat materials, in tho molt
substantial mnr ; She has 24 births, and
a select libgjfPm the cabin. The ouhin is
fluiah^lintSco moot modern aud elegant
style, with bird’s eye maple, mahogany, nod
rose woodr There is a double stair case
abaft like that of the France, and a,large one
a midships, which is an improvement. Each
state room is provided with a bell pull com-
inunioating with tlrb Steward’s pantry.—
The sight of a new ship in those times ia
grateful, and to such a ship wo cannot but
wish success.
Lust evening about 3 o'clock, a aartman
driving furiously up BMradway, was brought
up by a Lamp Post, at Ibe corner of Thames
street. Tho cartman either fell or jumped
offa short time previous. Tho lamp was
dashed to pieces, and a lady who was near
it eonrewhst injured, amf very much alarur-

Oh for an avalauoho of snow or ice, from
the Alps or Andes! Wlfy all the meats and
vegetables in the market are cooked, ready
