IN consequence of the numerous fraud;- and impnsi-

«>rk with my own signature on it, so that the cork can*
not be d{pwn withent destroying the signature, without
which none is genuine. The medicine may consequent,
ly be known to he genuine when iny signature is visible;
to counterfeit w hich will he punished as forgery.
The inereasing demand for this celebrated medicine
has enabled mo to reduce the price to Two Dollars per
bottlo, thus brifipinp it within the reach of tho indigent.
My Panacea requires no encomium: its astonishing
cfleets and wonderful operation have drawn both from
patients nnd medical men of tho highest resectability,
most unqualified approbation, nnd established for 11 a
(fi&rotfcr which Envy’s pen, though dipped in gall, can
never tarnish.
The false reports concerning this valuable medicine,
which have been so diligently circulated by certain phy
sicians, have their origin either in envy or in tho mis
chievous effects ofthe spurious imitations.
The Proprietor pledges himself to the public, and
gives them the most solemn assurances, thnt this medi
cine contains nc thcr mercury nor any other deleterious
drug.
The public arc cautioned not to purchase my Panacea

THE SYRUP OP SALZA;
Highly recommended by the Medical Society of New Fort, at being far superior to Swaim’t Panacea 9
or any other Syrup now in use, for the cure and relief of Scrofula, or King's Evil, Syphilitic, Mer
curial, and Cutaneous Diseases of the Skin, Ulcerous Sores, General Debility, and all Diseases
arising from impurity of Blood.
From tue Report <Sf the Committee op the
Medical Suciett.
—That the Syrup of Salza is an effectual re
medy in a great number of nuzzling cases of chronic
diseases, we have not only the testimony of the
French physicians, hut the experience of a number
of respectable physicians in this city, who have had
an opportunity of testing tho remedy in cases of
the most obstinate chronic character in the public
institutions, where patients labouring under incur
able diseases in the same wards, seeing its remark
able effects under the most discouraging circum
stances, would entreat to he allowed the remedy,
ort/.»e stratagems to obtain it; and even in these
hopeless cases it afforded more ot less relief. Ul
cerous sore throats, which urc of an indolent nnd
languid character, and which are usually compli
cated with the other symptoms of mercurial dis
eases, such as cutaneous affections of the skin
diseases of the joints, bones, &c., the Surup ot
Salza, if persevered in for six nr eight weeks, wil.
in general perfect a cure. And although this mode
of treatment is not so expeditious as the mercurial
plan, it possesses this advantage, that the patient
comes out of it with a constitution unimpaired;
perate living, he. F.xcmiating and dfeep seated
pains, have Been treated with this remedy with en
ure success. Many chronic eruptions, usually sup
posed to proceed from syphilis, nnd many that
certainly arc not so, will yield to this remedy, an<|
no matter what may be their character or nature,
from the simple herpes (itch) to the loathsome le
prosy, this remedy is well worthy of a trial. Tho
first indication of amendment is improvement in
general health, with return of appetite,' and quiet
nights. In some cases, whore the disease has been
of long standing, the joints will remain somewhat
swelled; but the patient will*ecover his health,
with/u/ncss und plumpness of habit. Besides these
eflects, this medicine exhibits tonic powers; under
its regular use the appetite improves, all the func
tions indicate the existence of a moderate state of
cxcir.ition, especially those of nutrition, and tho
patient acquires a degree of vigour he had lon&
been unaccu:«(onicd to. Before closing thia-rdport.
we shall take the liberty of subjoining an extract
from Mr. Fordico’s excellent paper: *' This medi-

for removing Pimples, Spots, Frecklos, Red
ness ofthe tikin, anil all cutaneous eruptions,
imparting to tho skin tho most delectable
fairness. In untie of Scrofula, Salt Rheum,
nnd vnriou9 other humors, it has been used
with peculiar success. Gcutlemea whose

find it excolleot beyond precedent, for ame
liorating and removing the unpleasant harsh

whotfe avocations expose them to intense so-

known nnd too justly appreciated to require
it. But as therd are many vile and spurious
cosmetics offered to tbo public, qb possessing
.virtues of vital importance, it may not bo
useless to remark that the ‘ Italian Lotion’
has been used by thousands, both in Europe

but by repeated applications it promotes a

Baltimore County, Feb. 14lh 1829.
Gentlemen— I feel it my duty to acknowl
edge I be great benefit I have derived from
the use of De La Monterat’s Columbian Veg
etable Specifict. I do not like to speak of
tbo Medicine in the exalted terms in which
I estimate it, 1 will, therefore, ns briefly a?
possible, give a history of my own situation,
with tho effects produced by this valuable
mcdicino. I have been, for tfio last five or
six years, laboring under a pulmonary Con
sumption, pronounced to be such by the at
tending physician, during which time I have
consulted many physicians, taken much med
icine, but nil to but little purpose. The 12th
of March, 1828,1 puked blood for the first
time, and continued so to do for several days
in succession, and on the 14th of the same
month was confined to my bed, where I lay
for two months until I was reduced to such
a state of debility, that my friends^ began to
despair of my recovery. I bad made use olno
of all tbe popular remedies without benefit,
and having accidentally heard of this SpeCi
fic,l determined to give it a trial,anticipating
from.the use of it, no better result than had
nttended the use of oil tho remedies 1 bad to.
ken ; but fn this I waB happily disappointed.
At my very lowest state I commenced the use
of this specific. I look the first dose at
night in a littloriierb ten, sweetened, which
threw mo ip a gentle perspiration aud
procured for mo a good night’s rest.—
I continued to take the medicine as directed,
and in aboat five dnv*j my cough was com
pletcly stopped and have not had any return
since. I am now perfectly satisfied of the
superior quality of this Specific over every
other medicine offered for tbe cure of tbe
above diBense. You are at liber$ to use this
letter in any way you may think troper.-
Yourn respectfully,
(Signed,) JOHN R. ELLICOTT,
Baltimore, Feb. 19/A, 1829.
I, Joseph N. Ruckle, do hereby certify,
that for upwards of six months,I was severe-
ly.affiictcd with a pain in my breast, accom
pained with a very bad cough and shortness
of breath, and every indication (in tho opin
ion of a physician) of approaching consump
tion ; after having boen persuaded by my
parents, I was induced to make trial of De
La Monterat’s Columbian Vegetable Speci
fic, and the use of three bottles completely
restored me to health.
