This one herb, under tlm force oftho Retort ami Gruuiblo, .developed inoro than ten distinct properties^ This fact struck my mind so forcibly, that it was impossible to got rid of it. Something seemed to tell mu that Providence, whoso spociid care is extended towards all his creatures, had never concentrated into one small herb so many medicinal qualities, as various und us complicated, although perfectly identical as the human blood, without a wise and good purpose. Hero was to ho found tlio acids, tlio alkalis, the oils, tho water, the air, the salts, tho soda, A:c., all combined, con centrated, and chemically united into one single .element of power, forming a substance more al lied and in affinity- to tho human blood than wus over before discovered iu tlm works of nature. The first case that came under iny observation, was u man tlmt had lost the use of his arm for some years. The Ointment restored his arm completely in a low days. ' In 1^37 l re moved to this county, ami brought with me my tormenting complaint and my friendly catheter.—- Here, ns there, I applied tn the most t-kiliml phy sicians, in 1 thought, ami here, as there, I recei v ed no benefit from them, iu September 18-12, after having stiftered nt times the most excrucia ting puius for eight years and iiiuu mouths, and after having spout a great deal of money (at least $5!)i)) on doctors during tlio time, I was induced to try Dr. M S. In this misera ble plight I lull home, went to Dr. Thomson, slated my ease to him, and he gave me medicine. In half mi hour after taking his first dose, l feltthat ease, and had that free and copious discharge of urine which I had not felt or had iu almost nine years. And from that time tn this present day, March ‘20di, 1847, I have had no return of niy complaint, and no more use for my catheter, lii order to make the euro permanent I continued the use of the medicine several mouths. Since then I Like nothing for it. I oat, drink, sleep, and work as in former days, and feel as well amt sound as ever I was. You may well suppose that it did not tako long to banish prejudice at tlmt rate, and I now say to the ufilieted, that I believe iu many instances tlmt prejudice stands more in the way of tlieir recovery than the incurability of their diseases. 8m:h, Stir.
