aiahnd hr aoroe of England’s ancient Alette*
Kiata. ahawiag properties and fgBraflfl never be*
for# found in any punt that waa ever discovered-.
Thia one herb, under the force of the Retort
end Crueibie. developed more than ten distinct
ptopeniea. Thi* fact struck my mind so forcibly,
that itwaaimpoaaible to get rid of it. Somethin*
aeemed to tell me that Providence, whose special
fore u extended towards all hi* matures, had
never concentrated into one email herb so many
medicinal qualities, as various and as complicated,
although perfectly identical as tho httmau blood,
without a wise and good purpose. Here waa to
be found tho acids, the alkalia, the oils, tho water,
the air, the salts, the soda, &c., all combined, con*
eentrated, and chemically united into one single
element of power, forming a substance more al*
lied and in aflipity to the human blood than waa
ever before discovered in tho works of nature.
Laboring under these impressions for several
year*, I became uneasy, discontented, and tut*
. witting to confine mysett longer to the duties of s
fanner.
Every thing seemed to point my mind to one
object, via.: the preparation of this herb into a
medicine, I then determined to return to tho city
of N. York. I did so, and immediately innuireil
for the herb. It was not to be found. I then
sent to Europe and there found it under another
Ifaring prepared the article to my satisfaction,
1 gave U away to all who would use it. Hun*
dreds, I might say thousands, took it into their
familita and used it: some for one thing and
•erne for another, and all from the very first to
the very last, pronounced it of unrivaled excel*
lenee and power.
The first case that came under my observation,
was a man that had lost the use of his arm for
some years. The Ointment restored his arm
completely in a few dayt. This surprised me as
omen aa it did the patient. Atter him there came
a man with sore eyes produced by gunpowder—a
very bad case indeed. One box only suilicied to
make a perfect cure. And I would here remark
that hundreds hare been cured of tore eyes,
who never found any relief but in this Oint*
went.
There next came a woman who was suffering
excruciating pain from the ague in the face.—
Her physician (thinking it the toothache,) had
extracted eleven of her theth. Rut the difficulty
still remained as bad at ever. The Application
of the All Healing Ointment wns attended with
immediate cessation of pain. Her face however,
began to awoll, and the surface wns covered over
with pimples of eruption like prickly lient. lu
one day all this disappeared. About the same
title, a lady made application with it for the
hsidtche of long standing, and a lulling of the
hair. The Ointment cured her headache, and
restored her hair. Since this, I have known the
Ointment to cure cases often, twenty and forty
years standing. I hesitate not to say, that it is
almost an Infallible remedy for this complaint.
About this time there were two coses, one of
Consumption, and ths other of Scrofula, which
had baffled tho skill of every physician who pres
cribed. It was wonderful to witness the effect of
the Ointmqnt"on these persons. No ono would
believe it unlew they hud personally witnessed it.
Out it did the work properly. There was no half
way business, for they recorarcd their health in a
few months.
Rheumatism, Fever, Quinzy, Sore Throat, Cu
taneous Eruptions, diseases of the Spins, and
Nervous Complaints were treated with unheard
of success. But in Chest diseases, such as Asth
ma, pain and oppression, I bslieve there is no hot
ter ramsrfy. Also, the common diseases, such as
Clear Sores, Scald Head, Humors of the Skin,
Inflammation, Piles, Sort Eyes, Sprains, Bruises,
and Burns, it seems to be a perfect antidote—
People would come into the store smiling,.wish
ing to know if I was really the Seventh Son, or
tvhethor the Ointment that I gave them was indeed
all-healing in its nature. For said they, uot one
smelt application has failed to cure.
Liver Complaint, particularly, was treated with
great and universal success.
It produced such good results in all cases that it
has Men noised abroad, and 1 was offered sums of
money for a receipt to make it for private use
.^merely. Every man spoke well of it, as it had
doneso much good.
Not withstanding all, I havo been carefut not to
recommend it, except incases I knew it would do
.good, I was never willing to lend myself to any
thing without first testing its merits. This I en
deavor to do on every occasion, and when I acted
as one of tlio Sick Committee in the Lodge of I.
. O. of O. F. I then tested it upon Brothers in tho
mostcritical conditions, and had abundant oppor
tunity of proving its worth.
Aud. in conclusion, I would roinark that I have
S laced this Ointment before tho people of the U.
tates during the last niue or twelve months, and
so general has been the satisfaction, and so great
amount of good dono, that more than half a mill
ion of boxes have already been sold. I do really
believe there never was a medicine which gained
such widespread, universal and unanimous satis
faction as tho All-Healing Ointment. From all
parts of the land there have eome up one deep,
sincere and universal voice of approbation saying
"McAlister thy tongue hath dropped the word of
truth and love, while health forever attends thy
foot steps." And were I now to give nil tho good
sayings of the people, their unqualified approval,
their thankfulness and gratitude, their joy at recov
•ring from disease and sickness, I could fill a

the most skillful physicians, it will appear sunora.

of Quinine in controlling Fever without alfecting

Quinine is Inadmissible. It Is not the purpose of

CITIZENS OF SOUTH CAROLINA,

Allow tne to rail your attention to one of the great
est and most useful Medecines ever discovered.
It is not my intention td tax you with a long and
tireaom advertisement, but I lay before you the
testimony of the most respectable families in the
United States, roost of my certificates are from the
city of Savannah, where I reside, and many from
your own State, where the Medicine is used with
great and astonishing success; it has proved itself
to be superior to any other Medictue tor the euro
of Fever and Ague, which it will do in the very
short space of Twelve Hours, it has never been
known to fail to effect a certain cure. The Med
icine is a harmless aud tasteless ono, which will
mnko it the most populnriMeriicineintlie Southern
States. The Medicine contains no mineral pre
paration whatever, but is a harmless Vegetable
matter only. To Planters, this Medicine is a val
uable preparation, as ft cures all cases in twolve
hours, ana does not require any timo to he lost; all
that is to be done is to taka tho Medicine and to go
to work. To the Rice Planter it Li n valuable Mcd-
iciue, as it does not contain any mercurial or min
eral preparation whatever, and is therefore a safe
Modicine for those who are liable to exposure. I
hog you, do not let tne havo to tax you so often with
advertisements, certificates, &c, It has already
proved itself to bewhat I say it is, and tho greatest
proof is every body is rccommcuding it to be {the
only certain and speedy euro for the Fever and
Agile. All you have to do is to ask your neighbor
what ho thinks oflluiuphreys' Remedy for Fever
and Ague, and nfeourse, tu be convinced, you will
trv it, at least I hope so. ? Here is my offer to any
lantcr of South Carolina, who will either call on
Doet. P. M. Cohen, of Charleston, S. C. or myself,
in the city of Savannah, and either of us will give
enough for twelve cases, and if it does uot cure ten
out oftweive, we will reftind the amount paid for
it. Your are to sco the Medicine takeu as I have
directed.
Owing to tho heavy rains during the past sum
mer, and which still continuo, all tho low lands
are underwater, which will cause a great deal of
this disease on the Rice Plantations; it will be to
your advantage to procure a certain and speedy
remedy 1 you can do to hy applying to either of
my Agents or myself. Ask for HUMPHREY’S
REMEDY FOll FEVER AND AGUE.
This Medicine is for sale by the following
named gentlemen, who are the only agents for
the Hale of tho Grkat Southern llr. .m Kim, where
it will bo found either at Wholesale or retail.
Country merchants will make a handsome profit
by selling this medicine. A libera) discour (made
