laid mom hundred mn mo. Among Uwra
•uttered Uivai I read of an herb which had been
analysed by aoraa of England's ancient Alclie-
mists, shewing properties and qualities never bo*
fore found in any plant dial was ever discovered-.
This one herb, under the force of the Retort
and Crucible, developed more titan ten dUtmot
propertiei. This foci struck tny mind so forcibly,
that itwaeinipoMibie to get rid of it. Something
seemed to tell me tiiat Providonco, whose special
care ie extended towards all his creatures, had
never concentrated into one email herb so many
medicinal qualities, as various and as complicated,
althoughperfoctle identical as thonumnn blood,
without a wise and good purpose. .How 10
be (bund the acids, the alkalis, the ode, the water,
theeir, die salts, the sods, Ac., all combined, con-
eautratsd, and chemically unitod into ono single
element of power, forming a substance more al-
Uad and In affinity to the human blood than was
aver before discovered in the works of nature.
* Laboring under these impressions fur seversl
Tears, I became nneasy. discontented, and un.
willing to confine myself longer to the duties of e
fkrmsr.
Ever, (hint *«med to point nty mini} la ono
object, via. t the preparation of this hern into e
medicine. I then determined to return to the city
of fl. York. 1 did so, end immediately inquired
for the herb. It was not to be found. I then
sent to Europe and there found it undur another
Having prepared the article to my satisfaction,
I gave it away to all who would use it. Hun
dreds, I wight say thousands, look it into their
families and used it: some for one thing and
•Amu for another- and all from .the very nrrt ti
the very last, pronounced it of unrivaled excel
lenee and power.
The first case that came under my observation,
wxs a man that had lost the use of his arm for
soma years. The Ointment restored his arm
completely in a few days. This surprised me as
much as it did the patient. After him there came
a maa with sore eves produced hy gunpowder—a
very bad case indeed. Oue box only sulfided to
mane a perfect cure. And I would here remark
that hundreds hare been cured of sore eyes,
who never found any relief but in this Oint-
went.
Thera next came a woman who was suffering
excruciating pain from the ague in the face.—
Her physician (thinking it the toothache,} had
extracted eleven of her teeth. But the difficulty
still remained as bad as over. The Application
of the All Healing Ointment wne attended with
immediate cessation of pain. Her face however,
began to ewell, end the surface was covered over
with pimples of eruption like prickly heat. In
one day all this disappeared. About the name
time, e lady made application with it for the
headache of long standing, and a falling of the
htir. The Ointment cured her headache, and
restored her hair. Since this, I have known the
Ointment to cure cases often, twenty and forty
» art standing. I hesitate not to say, that it is
Dost an inlaihbre remedy lor tins complaint.
About this time there wore two cases, one of
Consumption, and the_ other of Scrofula, which
had baffled the skill of every physician who pres*
cribed. It woe wonderful to witness the effect of
the Ointment on these porsous. JVo one would
believe it unless they bud personally witnessed it.
But it did the work properly. There was no half
way business, for thoy recovered their lieelth in a
few months.
Rheumatism. Fever, Quinsy, Sore Throat, Cu-
txaeous Eruptions, diseases of the Snius. and
Nervous Complaints were treated with unheard
ef success, llut in Chest diseases, such as Asth
ma, pain and oppression, I believe (hero is no hot*
ter remedy. Also, the common diseases, such as
Ulcer Sores. Scald Head, Humors of the Skin,
Inilxmraatinn, Piles, Sore Eyes, Sprains, Bruises,
end Bums, it seems to be a perfect antidote—
People would corno into the store smiling, whil
ing to know if 1 was really the Seventh Son, dr
whether the Ointmentthat 1 gave tlwm was indeed
all-healing in its nature. For said they, notone
•tagla application has failed to cure.
Mvar Complaint, particularly, was treated with
great and universal success.
It predneed such good results in all eases that it
has been noised abroad, and I was offered sums of
money for a receipt to make it for private use
merely. Every man apoke well of it, as it had
done so much good.
Not withstanding all, I have been ears Ail not to
recommend it, exeept in case* I knew it would do
S ood. I was never willing to lend myself to any
ling without first testing its merits. This I en
deavor to do on every occasion, and when I acted
as one of the Sick Committee in the Lodge of I.
O. of O. F. I then tested it upon Brothers in the
most critical conditions, and had abundant oppor
tnnity of proving'its worth.
And, in conclusion, I would remark that I have
placed this Ointment before the people of the U.
Stats# during the Inst nine or twelve months, and
so general has been the satisfaction, and so great
amount of good done, thnt more than half a mill
ion of boxes have already been sold. I do really
believe there never was a medicine which gained
such widespread, universal and unanimous satis
faction as the All-Henliug Ointment. From nil
parts of the land there have come up one deep,
sincere and universal voice of approbationsaying
"McAlister thy tongue hath dropped the word of
truth and love, while health forever attends thy
foot steps." And were I now to give all the good
tving« of tit* people, tbeir unqualified approval,
their thankfulness and gratitude, their joy at recov

CITIZENS OF SOUTH CAROLINA,
GEORGIA, ALABAMA, MISSISSIPPI, TEN-
NES3EE, FLORIDA, LOUISIANA, &c.—
Allow mo to rail your attention to one of the great
est and most usefiil Medecines ever discovered.
It is not my intention to tat von with a long and
tiresom advertisement, but I lay before you tho
testimony of the most respectable families in the
United States, most of my certificates are from tho
city of Savannah, where I reside, and many from
your own State, where tho Medicine is used with
great and astonishing success; it has proved itself
to be superior to any other Medicine for the cure
of Fever and Aguo, which it will do in the very
short space of Twelve Hours, it has never been
knowu to failto effect a certain cure. The Med
icine is a harmless and tasteless ono? which will
mnke it the most popular-Medicineinthn Southern
States. Tho Medicine contains no mineral pre
paration whatever, but is a harmless Vegetable
matter only. To Planters, this Medicine is a val
uable procuration, ns it cures nil cases in twelve
hours, anil does not require anv time to he tost; all
»H*i is to he done is to tike tho Medicino and to go
to work. To tho Rice Planter it is a valuable Med
icino, as it docs not contain any mercurial or min
eral preparation whatevor, and is therefore a safe
Medicino forthoso who are liable to oxpostirc. I
beg yon. do not let me have to tax yon so often with
advertisements, certificates, Ac. It has already
proved itself to liowhat I say it is, and tho grentost
proof is every body i.i recommending it to bejlho
only cortain and speedy cure for tho Favcr aud
Ague. All you have to do is to ask your neighbor
what ho thinks of Humphreys' Remedy for Fever
and Ague, and ofeourse, to ho convinced, you will
try it, nt least I liopo so. I lore is my offer to any
Planter of South Carolina, wljp will either rail »u
poet. P. M.Cohon, of Charleston, S. C. or myself,
in tha city nfSnvannnh, nnd either of its will give
enough for twelve cases, and If it does not cure ton
nut of twelve, we will refTind tlm amount paid for
it. Your are to see tho Medicine takeu at I have
directed.
Owing to tho heavy rains during the past sum
mer, and which still enutinuo, nil tho fow lauds
are underwater, which will enuse h great deal of
this disease on the Rice Plantations; it will be to
your advantage to procure a certain and speedy
remedy; you can do so by applying to either of
mr Agents or myself. Ask for HUMPlIREY’S
REMEDY FOll FEVER AND AGUE.
This Medicino is for sale by tho following
named gentlemen, who are the only agents for
the sale of the Gnr.AT Sotmir.n* Rr.Mr.rm, where
it will he found either at wholesale or retail.
Country merchants will inako a handsome profit
by selling this medicine. A liberal discour tuiadu

The naflvo Febrifttge (a offered. The proprie
tor is aware that the common objections to all new
preparations will be urged against tills. To pbv ate
all such objections, ho has simply to stato thnt it is
prepared according to tho receipt of an eminent
ihysican, who used it with perfect auccese
brunch a long practice, in perhaps the most sick-
y region of our country, via: tho Mississippi val-
oy. * Again from the uxalled estimation iu which
Unininu is held, not only by tlio ponple, but by
die most skillful physicians, it wilUiipcnrsunora-
rogatory to offer any new article. Bill the Native
Febrifuge possesses all tho power and certainty
of Quinine in controlling Paver without affecting
the hood, and may bo safely used therefor, where
Quinine is insdinissible. It is not tho purpose of
the proprietor however sanctioned by custom on
such occasions, to attempt a display of medical
knowledge by adoptiug somo ono of tho contra
dictory theories afloat, with regard to tho charac
ter anil eaitses of Fever.
Believing with the learned Gregory thnt though
thorn has been so much written concerning Fever
there is no one subject in the wliolucircleo'f medi
cal science which still involvus *n many disjiutcd
mints, tatting all theories pass, we stand by
lids. Tho first of which is that tho Nativo Fe-
iriftice will cure fever, from whatever cause it
may nave originated, and if any doubt cxisU, os to
the’ fact we invite the afflicted to die test, with
confidence as to tho issue. What it has done it
will do. Tho following certificate of ono well
known will show what it lias done:
Savan.vah, 12th May, 1847.
Mr. Jas. A. La Roche having requested mo to
state my knowledge of the Native Fehriftige, I
take pleasure in stating that it was used benefici
ally iu die Fevers of tlio valley of the Mississippi
•nd Arkansas, in all cases in which Quinine is us
ually exhibited, and was admissahle in conges
tions of dm brain when Quinine was supposed to
he contradicntcd.

Dear Sir:—In compliance with tny protnisa to
lot you hoar from mo, with regard to die effect of
your Febrifttge, permit me to hand you the fol
lowing statement of fads. For uearly U years my
wife has been laboring under the effects of con
tinually recurring Chills and Fevers, notwith
standing nil tho remedies prescribed by our best
Physician;!, and at tho time I procured Tlm Na

dent, fearing that death alone would terminate tier
disease, but I am happy to state thnt tho use of
otie bottle has broken the Favor completely and
restored her so far ns to require only a little time
to recruit her wasted energies and 'place her in
perfect health, such lias been the rlinngo produc
ed in her habit and constitution by The Native
