Georoe Law, Esq., having furnished the steam
ship “ Falcon” for the use of the government,
the public is hereby notified that mails nitty be
sout, for her conveyance, to Now York by tho
1st of December next; to Charleston, South
CnroHtm, nud Snvnnnah, Georgia, by the 3d, nnd
to Nnvv-Orleans by tbc 17th of the same month.
Tho "Falcon” will touch at Havuua on her
wny to Now-Orleans, nnd go from New-Orleons
to Chagres. Mail-bags will be made up ut New-
York, to bo forwarded to all the points above
named; also for Paunma, San Diego, Santa Bar
bara, Monterey, San Francisco, and Astorin.
The postmasters of Charleston, South Caroli
na, Savannah, Georgia, and New-Orleuus, Lou
isiana, will also make up mails for the points
stated, to he placed iu the care of the agent of the
Post Office Department on board of tho " Fal
con,'7 who will place them in the respective mail
hags made up at New-York.
The sen postage for single letters, not exceed
ing half an ounce in weight,- will he 12$ cents to
Havnun, 30 cents to Patiamn, and 40 cents to San
Diego, Santa Barbara, Monterey, Son Francis
co, or Astoria, without any addition for inland
postage iu cither case. Newspapers and pamph
lets, sea postage 3 cents each, and inland postage
