Affmv me to call your attention to one of the great

It is not my intention to tax you with u long and

testimony of the most respectable families in the
United States, most of ray certificates ure from the
city of Savannah, where I reside, nnd many from
ypurown State, where the Medicine is used with
great and astonishing success; it has proved itself
to be superior to any other Aledicino for the cure
of Fever and Aguo, which it will do iu tho very
short space of Twelve Hours, it has never been
known to faiito etFect a certain cure. Tho Aled
icino is a harmless and tasteless one, which will
make it the most popubir.AI edicine in the Southern
States. Tho Aledicino contains no mineral pre
paration whatever, but is a harmless Vegetable
matter only. To Planters, this Alodtciuo i3 a val
uable preparation, ns it cures all cases in twelve
hours, and does not require any timo to be lost; all
that is to be done is to tube tho Medicine and to go
to work. To tho Rico Planter it is a vuluable Med
icine, as it does not contain any mercurial or min
eral preparation whatever, and is therefore a safe
Medicine for those who arc liable to exposure. 1
bog you. do not let me have to tax you so o ften with
advertisements, certificates, Ac. It has already
proved itsolf to bewhat I say it is, and the greatest
proof is every body is recommending it to be the
only certain und speedy cure for tho Fever and

try it, at least I hope so. Hero is my oficr to nny
Planter of South. Carolina, who will either call on
Doct. P. M. Cohen, of Charleston-, S C. or myself,
in the city of Savannah, nnd cither oftis will give
enough for twelve cases, and if it does not cure ton
ofttoftwelvc, we will refund tho amount paid for
it. Your are to see tho Aledicino taken as I have
directed.
Owin’* to the heavy rains during the past sum
mer, and which still continue, all the low lands
are underwater, which will cause a great deal of
this disease ou tho Rice Plantations; it will be to
your advantage to procure a certain and speedy
remedy; you can no bo by applying to either of

This Medicine has acquired a very extended
and established repulnlion wherever it lias been
used, based on irely oil its own merits, which its
superior efficacy has alone sustained. The un
fortunate victim of hereditary disease, with swol
len glands, contracted sinews, and bones half ca
rious had boon restored to health''and vigor. The
scrofulous patient, covered with ulcers, loathsome
to himself and his attendants, has been made
whole. Hundreds of persons, who had groaned
hopelessly for years under cutaneous and gland
ular disorders, chronic -rheumatism, and many
oilier complaints springing from a derangement
of (he secretive organs and tho circulation, have
been raised ns it were from the rack of disease,
uud now with regenerated constitutions, gladly
testify to tho ellicuey of this inestimable prepara
tion. Tho testimony of those who have been
cured by its use, with their residences, has been
published from time to time; and were it desira
ble, n mass of the most overwhelming testimony
could he brought forward, proving most conclu
sively its inestimable value. The afflicted, and
thoso who hnvo not used this medicine, are invi
ted to make a trial of its virtues, and appropriate
to themselves the benefit which it ulone can be
stow.
“Troth Is stranger than fiction.”
Tho attention of tho reader is culled to the fol
lowing astonishing cure, effected by the use of
Sands’ Sursapnrillu.
This is to certify that I have a colored woman
who has boon afflicted for tho last five years with
Scrofula, and all the remedies I used hud no ef
fect in arresting the progress oftho compluiut;
on the contrary, she grew constantly worse; aud
after expending between $70 and $80 with physi
cians, besides using other popular remedies with
out success, till the disease had eaten uway the
cartilage of her nose, trade its appearance on va
rious purts of her body, and hud finally commenc
ed its ravages in tho roof of her mouth.
In tlii9 dreadful situation, with tho prospect of
death staring her in tho face, I stated Iter case
to Dr. Disoswoy, tho agent for Sands’ Sarsapa
rilla in Newbern, N. C., by whom I was advised
to use that article j nml to my surprise and that of
my neighbors, to whom her case was known, af
ter using four and a half bottles, sho was restor
ed to perfect health, nnd that in the space of three
weeks, and was able to work in two weeks from
the time she commenced tnkiugit.
In witness ofthe truth of this statement, I have
hereunto affixed nty name, this 19th Sept., 1347.

Ulcer cured of seven years standing.
Tliis euro was effected iu July, lo44; there
have been no symptoms of a return, und her
health still continues good, July, 1818.
New-York, July 25,1844.
Alessrs. Sands—Gentlemen: I consider it but
an act of justice to you to state the following facts
in reference to the great benefit I Iiavo received
in the cure of an obstinate Cancerous Ulcer ou my
breast.
i was attended eighteen months by a regular
and skilful physician, assisted by the udvico and
counsel of ono of our most able and experienced
surgeons, without the least benefit whatever. All
the various methods of treating cancer were re
sorted to; for five weeks in succession by brenst
was burned with caustic three times a day, and
for six it was daily syringed with a weak solution
of nitric acid, and the cavity or internal ulcer was
so large that it held over an ounce ofthe Holntion.
The doctor probed the ulcer and examined the
bone, aud said the disease was advancing rapidly
to the lungs, and if I didittot get speedy relief by
medicine or by nil operation, tho result would be
futul. I was advised to hare the breast laid open
and tho bones examined; but finding no relief
from what bad been done, aud feeling I was rap
idly getting worso, I almost despaired of recove
ry, and considered my case nearly hopeless.
Seeing various testimonials und certificates of
euro by the use of Sands' Sarsaparilla, in cases
similar to my own, I concluded to try a few bot
tles, several of which wore used, but, from the
long deep-seated character of my disease, produ
ced no very decided change. Considering this
as tho only probable euro for my case, I persever
ed until the disease was entirely cured. It is now
over eleven months sinco the euro was comple
ted ; there is not tho slightest appearance of a re
turn. I tliercforo pronounce myself wer.r., nnd
the euro entirely effected by Sands* Sarsaparilla,
ns I took no other medicine of any kind during
the timo 1 wus using it, nor have I takeuauy
since.
Please excuse this long deferred acknowledg
ment which I think it my duty to make. Your va-
(liable Sarsaparilla cured me, with the blessing of
Diviuo Providence, when nothing else could; and
I feel myself under lasting obligation to you. I
can say many things I cannot write, nnd I do
most respectfully invite ladies afflicted ns I have
been, to call upon me, and I will satisfy them
fully of the truth as stated above, und many other
things in reference to the case.

Sands' Celebrated Sarsaparilla.—This excellent
compound, which is creating such a universal in
terest throughout tire country, has made its way
successfully into the favor of our citizens and the
people around us. We have rend again nnd a-
£uiu of the efficacy of this invaluable .mcdicino—
if we can call a vo'ry pleasant beverago medicine
—but not until lately have we bad any positive
proof which could induco us to speak fairly of it.
But, from facts in our possession, we are now
well convinced that without any exception, it is
the safest, pleasantest, aud best compound ever of
fered to the public, for the cure of ail chronic dis
eases, rheumatism and scrofula, and nil impuri
ties of the Wood, together with many other com
plaints.
It has solongbocn remarked that tho ago is ono
of “nostrums and nostrum-venders,” that wo
hardly flare recommend a vukiable discovery in

iustauce we hesitato not to hazard tho remark
which w* have made above.—Hartford Review.

we take into consideration the vast number that

nearly every family retain it in their house as an
tidote to colds, coughs and consumption.
That no other article possesses the same merits
is equally true, aud tho consumptive learns tliut

have proved worthless. There is not a doubt but
thousands are yearly cured by this inestimable
medicine, and iu many instances where those

cured by this Balsam of Liverwort. As* you

resort in vain—but read nnd judge for yourself:

Although thousands are cured by Dr. Taylor’s
Balsam of Liverwort, und as many still die of that
fatal malady, fbo cause is plain, neglect your first
a itoras, and then trifle with things of no use
it is too lute, death follows. But every
one cun bo cured if they will. Take this tnedi-

you will be easily cured. Yet this medicine has
cured consumption iu advanced stages, ns the
testimonials below will prove. But tho surest
way is notto defer,as “ueiuysnre always dan

Asthma Cured.—I have suffered from the
Asthma a very long time, and have used overv
medicine I could obtain'for its cure in vain, until
I tried Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort. This
medicine has afforded me most manifest benefit,
nnd is, in my opinion, a euro for this distressing
disease; moro especially, as ! know of many
cases among my friends, where it has been highly
successful. Persons interested are invited to call
at tny residence for further information.

Femnlo Medicine.
Dr. Townsend’s Sarsaparilla is a sovereign and snoedy
cure for Incipient Consumption, Barrenness, Prolapsus
Utori, or Falling oftho Womb, Costivonoss, Piles, Leu-
corrhoea, or Whites, obstructed or difficult Menstrua
tion. Incontinence of Urino, or involuntary discharge
thereof, and for tho general prostration of tho systom—
no matter whether the result of inherent causo or causes,
produced by irregularity, illness or accident. Nothing
can bo moro surprising than its invigorating effocts
on tho human frame. Persons all weakness and Inssi-
tudo, from taking it, at once become robust and full of
energy undor Us Influence. It immediately counteracts
the norvelessncssof tho fomalo frame, which is the great
causo ot Barronuess. It will not bo expected of us, in
cases of so dolicate a nature, to exhibit certificates of
cures performed hut wo can assuro tho affiictod, that
hundreds of cases havo been reported to us. Thousands
of coses where families havo boon without children,
after using a few bottles of this invaluable medicine,
have been hlosscd with fine, healthy offspring.
To Mothers mid Married Trodles.
This Extract or Sarsaparilla has been expressly pro-
pared in reference to female complaints. No female
who has reason to suppose she is npproaching that
critical period, “ The lun» of l{fe" should noglect to
take it, as it is a certain preventive for any or tho
numerous and horriblo diseases to which fomalos are
subject nt this (imo of life. This period may be de
layed for several years by using this medicine. Itor
is It loss valuable for thoso who are approaching wo-
manhood, as it is calculated to assist nature, by quick
ening the blood and invigorating the system. Indeed,
this medicine is Invaluable for all the dehcato disoa-
sos to which womoit ure subject.
It braces tho whole system, renews ptrmanonliy the
natural energies, by removing the imparities of the
body, not so (hr stimulating as to produce subsequent
relaxation, which is the case of most medicines taken for
female wenkness and disease. By using a fow boUlcs of
this medicine, many severs and puinfui surgical opera
tions may be prevented.
GrcntBkssing to Mo them find Children.
It is tho safest and most effectual medicine for purify
ing tho system, and relieving tho sufferings attendant
upon child-birth ever discovered. It strengthens both
tho mother aud child, prevents pain and disease, in
creases and enriches tho food, thoso who have used it
think it is indispensable. It is highly useful both before
and after confinement, as it prevents diseases attendant
upon childbirth—in Costivcncss, Piles. Cramps, Swell
ing of the Feet, Despondency, Heartburn, Vomiting,
Pain in the Back and Loins, Fnlso Pains, Hemorrhage,
and In regulating the secretions und equalizing tlio cir
culation It hns no equal. Tho grent beauty of this
medicine is, It is always safe, nnd ilia most delicuto use
it most sucrossfully, very few cusos require any other
modicino, in somo n little Castor Oil, or Magnesia, is
useful. Exercise in tho opon air, and light food with
this medicine, will always ensure a safe and easy con
finement ^
Bcnnty nnd Hcnltli.
Cosmetics, Chalk, und a variety of preparations gene
rally in use, wlion applied to the faco, very soon spoil it
of its lionuty. They close the pores of the skin, and
check the circulation, which, when naturo is notthwart-
cdhy disease or powder, or tho skin inflamed by the
alkalies used in soaps, beautifies its own production in
tho •' human face Divine,” as well ns in the garden of
rich and dolicatcly tinted nnd variegated flowers. A
(Voo, active and healthy circulation of the fluids, or tho
coursing ofthe pure, rich Idood to tho extremities, is
that which paints tho countenance in the most exqui
site beauty. It is that which imparts tho indescribable
sbndes and flashes of loveliness that oil admire, but
none can describe. This benuty is tho offspring of na
ture—not of powder or soap. If thcro is not n free and
healthy circulation, thoro is no benuty. If tho lady is
fair as driven snow, if she paint, and uso cosmetics,
tud the blood is thick, cold and impuro, she is not beau
tiful. If sho bo brown or yellow, and thoro is nuro nnd
active blood, it gives a rich bloom to tho cheeks, and a
brilliancy to thoireyei that is fnscinniiny.
This is why tho southern, and especially die Span
ish ladies, are so much ndmlrcd. Ladies in tho north
who take but littfo exorcise, or era confined in close
rooms, or hove spoiled their complexion by tho appli
cation of deleterious mixtures, if they wish to re-
gain elasticity of step, buoyant spirits, sparkling eyes
and beautiful complexions, they should use Dr. Town-
seud’s Sarsaparilla. Thousands who have tried it, are
more than satisfied, are delighted. Ladies of every
station, crowd our office doily.
Notice to the T.ndics.
Those that imitate Dr. Townsend’s Sarsaparilla, have
Invariably called their stuff n great Remedy for Fe
males, &c., &c., and havo copiod our bills nnd circulars
which rotates to the complaints of women, word for word
•other men who put up medicine, Imve, sinco the great
success of Dr. Townsend’s Sarsaparilla in complaints
Incident to females, recommended theirs, although pre
viously they did not. A numbor'of these Mixtures, Pills,
Ac., are injurious to fomales. as tlioy aggravate disease,
and undermine the constitution. Dr. Townsend’s is the
only and best romedy for the numerous femalo com
plaints—it rarely, if ever fails of effecting a permanent
cure. It can be taken by the most delicato females,
in any cose, or by thoso expecting to become mothers,
with tho greatest advantages, as it prepares tho system
and prevents pain or dunger, and strengthens both
mother and child. Bo carcfti! to get the genuine.
Scrofnln Cured.
This certificate conclusively provot that this Sarsa
parilla has perfect control over the most obstinate dis
eases ofthe Blood. Three persons cured in one house
is unprecedented.
