. matter only. To Planters, this Medicine is a val
uable preparation, as it cures all cases in twelve

that is to be done is to take the Medicine aud to go
to work. To the Rice Planter it is a valuable Med
icine, as it does not contain any mercurial or min
eral preparation whatever, aud is therefore a safe
Modjoine for those who »»-0 liable 10 exposure. I
oegyoa.ao not let mo have to tax you so often with

“Truth is stranger than Action.”
Tho attention of the reader is called to tho fol
lowing astonishing cure, effected by the use of
Sunds* Sarsaparilla.
This is to certify that I have n colored woman
who has been afflicted for the last five years with
Scrofula, and all the remedies I used had no ef
fect in arresting the progress of tho complaint;
on tho contrary, she grow constantly worse; and
ufter expending between $70 and $&0 with physi
cians, besides using other popular remedies with
out success, till the diseaje had eaten away the
cartilage of her uose, made its appearance on va
rious parts of her body, aud had finally commenc
ed its ravages in tho roof of her mouth.
In this dreadful situation, with the prospect of
death staring her in the face, I stated her cose
to Dr. Disoswray, tho agent for Bauds' Sarsapa
rilla in Newbern, N. C., by whom I was advised
to use that article; and to my surprise and that of
my neighbors, to whom her caso was known, af
ter using four uud a half bottles, she wu* restor
ed to perfect health, aud that in the space of three
weeks, and was uble to work in two weeks from
the time she commenced taking it.
In witness ofthe truth of this statement, I have
hereunto affixed my name, this 19th Sept., 1847.

Ulcer cured of seven yearn standing.
This cure was effected in July, 1844; there
itave been no symptoms of a return, and her
health still continues good, July, 1843.
New-Yoric, July 25,1844.
Messrs. Sands—Gentlemen: I consider it but
an act of justice to you to stato tho following facts
in rofcrence to the great benefit I have received
in the cure of an obstinate Cancerous Ulcer on my
breast.
1 was attended eighteen months by a regular
and skilful physician, assisted by the advice and
counsel of one of our most able and experienced
surgeons, without the least beuefit whatever. All
the various methods of treating cancer were re
sorted to; for five weeks in succession by breast
was burned with ca italic three times a day, and
for six it was daily syringed with a weak solution
of uitric acid, aud the cavity or internal ulcer was
so large that it held over au ounce ofthe solution.
The doctor probed the ulcer and examined tho
bone, and said the disease was advancing rapidly
to the lungs, and if I did not get speedy relief by
medicine or by an operation, the result would be
fatal. I was advised to have tho breast laid opeu
and the bones examined; but fitiding no relief
from what had been done, and feeling I was rap
idly getting worse, I almost desnuired of recove
ry, aud considered my case nearly hopeless.
Seeing vnrious testimonials aud certificates of
cure by tho use of Sands' Sarsaparilla, in cases
similar to my own* I concluded to try a Jew bot
tles, several of which were used, but, from the
long deep-seated character of my disease, produ
ced no very decided change. Considering this
ns the only probable cure for my case, I persever
ed until the disease was entirely cured. It is now
over eleven months since the cure was comple
ted; there is not the slightest appearauce of a re
turn. I therefore pronounce myself well, and
the cure ontireiv effected by Sands' Sarsaparilla,
ns I took no other medicine of atiy kind during
the time I was using it, nor have I taken any
since.
Please excuse this long deferred acknowled^
ment which I think it my duty to make. Your va-
luuble Sarsaparillacured me, with the blessingof
Divide Providence, when nothing else could; and
I feel myself under lasting obligation to yon. I
can say many things I cannot write, and I.do
most respectfully invito ladies afflicted ns I have
been, to cull upon me, nnd I will satisfy them
fully ofthe truth as stated above, and many other
tilings in reference to the case.
Naycr J. Miller, 218 Sullivan-street.
Sands' Celebrated Sarsaparilla.—This excellent
compound, which is creating such a universal in
terest throughout the country, has made its way
successfully into the favor ofour citizens and the
people around us. We have read again nnd a-
guin of the efficacy of this invaluable medicine—
if wo can call a very pleasant bevorage medicine
—but not until lately huve wo had auv positive
6 roof which could induce us to speak fairly of it.
ut, from facts in our possession, we are now
well convinced that without any exception, it is
the safest, pleasantest, and best compound ever of
fered to the public, for (he cure of all chronic dis
eases, rheumatism and scrofula, and nil impuri
ties ofthe blood, together with many other com
plaints.
It has so long been remarked that the age is one
of " nostrums aud nostrum-venders," that we
hardly dare recommend a valuable discovery in
the Medical Science, lest we jeopardize our repu
tation for incredulity and consistency; but in this
instance wo hesitate not to hazard the remark
which wo have made above.—Hartford Review,

D R. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVER
WORT,—That this medicine should ac
quire so much notoriety is not at all strange when
we tplcc into consideration the vast number that
are cured by its use. For many years it has
proved soaslonishiuglysucccssfulut tho North,that
nearly every family retain it in their house as an
tidote to colds, coughs and consumption.
That no other article possesses the same merits
is equally true, nnd tbo consumptive learusthut
he can depend upon this medicine when all others
have proved worthless. There is not a douhtbut
thousands are yeurly cured by this inestimable
medicine, and in many instances where those
given up to die, nave in nuinc’dible short time been
entirely cured by its unrivalled efficacy. The fol
lowing remarkable case of consumption was
cured by this Balsam of Liverwort. As you
value life and health and-would be cured, at once
resort to this article, nad rest assured you will not
resort in vain—but read aud judge for yourself:
fnlcresting cure of Consumption and Liter
Complaint.—I lmd a violent cough, with raising
of phlegm, a severo pain in my side, back,
stomach, and across my bowels. 1 was so cold at
times, it seemed impossible to keep wurm, even
when others were complaining of the heat, and
my skin was very yellow. I fell away to skin and
bones, my veins AutHn and became invisible, and
every person supposed me dying. A friend of
mine recommended me to try Dr. Taylor’s Balsam
of Liverwort, which I got, as my physician did
me no good, and this medicine soon restored
me to good health again.
J. KATAuxoa,
Ship Carpenter, 640 Water-street.
Although thousands are cured by Dr. Taylor’s
Balsam of Liverwort, and as many still die of that
fatal malady, tho cause is plain, neglect your first
symptoms, and then trifle with things of no use
until it is too late, death follows. But every
one can be cured if they will. Take this medi
cine at the first approach of the insidious foe, and
you will be easily cured. Yet this medicine has
cured consumption in advanced stages, os the
testimonials below will prove. But tho surest
way is notto defer, os *‘delays are always dan
gerous.”
Consumption Cured.—My son having a violent
cold, used to cough violently, raising quantities
of thick putrid matter, and finally he could not
turn over in bed, from weakness. He manifest
cd every symptom of confirmed consumption.
For 0 years he had been subject to the asthma.
Ilis physicians, Drs. Verinoule and Anderson
said he was incurable and must soon die. Yet 1
was determined to try Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of
Liverwort, and strange ns it may appear, this
medicine has fully restored his health.
Sophia Gallon, 14 Norfolk-st.
Asthma Cured.—I have suffered from the
Asthma a very long time, and have used every
medicine I could obtain for its cure in vain, nntil
l tried Dr. Taylor’s Balsam of Liverwort. This
medicine has afforded me most manifest benefit,
aud is, in my opiniou, a cure for this distressing
disease; ‘ more especially, bs I know of many
caseB among my friends, where it has been highly
successful. Persons interested are invited to call
at my residence for further information.
Mrs. S. Rotor, 218 Laurens-st.
We might give hundreds of testimQnialsfrom
Physicians, the press, clergy, and thoso who have
been cured, but all we desire is to call the attention
of the afflicted, and for their own good they will
try it.
Look out for eonnterfeits! Always observe the
