** Truth fs stronger than Action.’*
The attention of the reuder is called to tho fol
lowing astonishing cure, effected by the use of
Siurl*’ Sarsaparilla.
This is to certify that I have a colored woman
who bus been aftlicted for thu last five years with
Scrofula, and all the remedies I used had no ef
fect in arresting the progress of the complaint:
oil thu contrary, she grew constantly worse; and
alter expending between $70 and $80 with physi
cians, besides using other popular remedies with
out success, till the diseate hu eaten away the
cartilage of her udse, trade its appearance on va
rious parts of her body, ami had finally commenc
ed it* ravages iu the roof of her mouth.
In this dreadful situation, with the prospect of
death staring her iu the face, I stated her case
to Dr. Disosway, the agent for Sands’ Sarsapa
rilla in Newheru, N. C., hy whom I was advised
to use that article; and to my surprise and that of
my neighfiorti,' U1 whom' her case was known, af
ter using four and a half bottles, she was restor
ed to perfect health, and tliut iu the spucu of three
weeks, and was able to work iu two weeks from
tho lime she cotnmeuceiHakihg it.
Iii witness of the truth of this statement. I have
hereunto affixed my name, this I9th Sept., 1847.

New-York, July 25.1844.
Messrs. Sands—Gentlemen: I consider it but
an act of justice to you to slate he following fact*
|u reference to the great benefit i have received
in the cure of till obstinate Cancerous Ulcer on my
breast.
I was attended eighteen months by a regular
uud skilful physician, assisted by the advice and
counsel of one of our most able uud experienced
surgeons, without the least benefit whatever. All
the various methods of treating cancer were re
sorted to; for live weeks iu succession by breast
was burned with caustic three times u day, and
for six it was daily syringed with n weak solutL.ii
of nitric acid, and the cavity or internal ulcer was
so large that it held over an oitnc s of the solution.
The doctor probed the nicer und examined the
bone, and said the diseuse was advancing rapidly
lo the lungs, ami if I did not get speedy relief by
medicine or by an operation, the result would be
fatal. I was advised to have the breast laid open
and thu bones uxamiued; but finding no relief
from wlint had been done, uud feeling I was rap
idly gelling worse, 1 almost despaired of recove
ry, and considered my case nearly hopeless.
Seeing various testimonials and certificates of
cure hy the use of Sands’ Sarsaparilla, in cases
similar to my own, I concluded to try a few bot
tles, several of which wine used, but, from the
long deep-seated character of my disease, produ
ced uo very decided change. Considering this
a* the only probable core lor my case. I-persever
ed until the disease was entirely cored, it i* now
over eleven months since the cure was comple
ted ; there is not the slightest appearance of a re
turn. 1 therefore pronounce myself wer.i., and
the cure entirely effected -by Samis' Sarsaparilla,
a* I took no other medicine of any kind during
the time I was using it, nor lmve I' taken any
since.
lMuusc excuse this long deferred acknowledg
ment which I think it my duty to make. Your vu-

iliiugs in reference to the case.

Sands' Celebrated Sarsaparilla.—-This excellent
compound, which is creating such a universal in
terest throughout the country, has made its way
successfully into the favor ol our citizen* uud the
people around ns. Wo have read again audit-
gain of the efticacy of this invaluable medicine—
if we can call a very pleasant beverage medicine
—bn Mint ti tit il lately lmve wo had any positive
proof which could induce us to speak fairly of it.
But, from facts ill our possession, we are now
well convinced thut without any exception, it is
the oafist, pUasantcst, uud fast-compound ever of
fered to the public, for the cure of ull chronic dis
eases, rheumatism and scrofula, uud all impuri
ties of the blood, together with niuny other com
plaints.
It has so long been remarked that tho ago is one
of •• iioAtrum* and n 'strum venders,” that we
liardlv dare recommend 'u valuable discovery in
the Medical Science, lest we jeopardize our repu
tation for incredulity and consistency; but in this
instance we hesitate nut to hazard the remurfi
which we have made above.—Hartford Ilccieio.
Sore Throat. •
The following is an extract from a letter recei
ved from Mrs. Bevait, who had been aftlicted
several years with Scrofulous Ulcers, Dyspepsia,
Ac., und recently an affection of the throat uud
chest:
Bnileysbnrg, Vn.. Dec. 13,1845.
Messrs. A. D. A D. Sands: Before I com
menced using your Sarsaparilla, my sufferings
were uliiiost past expression; my throat was

D it. TAYLOR’S BALSAM OF LIVER
WORT.—That this medicine should ac
quire so tiimh notoriety is uotat all strange when
we take into consideration thu vust number that

proveffsouslonishmglysticcessfulnt the North,that
nearly every (utility retain it in their house os an
tidote to colds, coughs uud consumption.
That uo other article possesses the same merits
is equally true, aud the consumptive learns that'
he can depend upon this nttedicine when all other*
have proved worthless. There is not n douht but
thousands are yearly cored by this inestimable
mediciuc, und iii many instances where those
given up lo die, nave in an iuc’dible short time been
entirely cured by its unrivalled etficncy. The fol
lowing remurkuble case of consumption wus
cured by this Balsam of Liverwort. As you
value'lifts and health and would be cured, at once
resort to this urticle, und rest assured you will not
resort iu vain—but read and judge for yourself:
Interesting cure of Consumption and Liter
Complaint.—I had n violent cough, with raising
of phlegm, a severe pain in my side, buck,
stomach, and across my bowels. I wus so cold at
times, it seemed impo&dhte to keep warm, even
when others were complaining of the heat, and
tny skin was very yellow. I fell away to skin uud
hones, my veins sunk in and became invisible, uud
every persou supposed me dying. A friend ol
mine recommended me to try Dr. Taylor’s Balsam
of Liverwort, which I got. us my physician did
me no good, and this medicine sotfn restored
me to good heullli again.
J. Kavanagh,
Ship Carpenter, C40 Water-street.
Although thousands are cured hy Dr. Taylor's
Balsam of Liverwort, uild as many still die of that
futul malady, the cause is plain, neglect yoin*first
symptom*, and then trifle with things of no use
until it is too lute, death follows. But evury
one cau be cured if they will. Take this medi

you will he easily cured. Yet this medicine liu>-

way is not to defer, us "delays arc always dan

Asthma Cured.—I have suffered from the
Asthma a very long time, and have used evert
medicine I could obtain for its cure in vaid, unti
I tried Dr. Tuylor’s Balsum of Liverwort. Tlib
medicine has afforded me uio.it manifest benefit
and is. in my opinion, u cure for this distressing
diseuse; more especially, as I know of mam
cases umoug my friends, where it has been highft
successful. Persons interested are'invited to cul.
at my residence for further information.

We might give hundreds of testimonial* from

of the afilictcd, uud for their own good they wili
