rnilE WIFE’S FRIEND.—Important
X to those about to become Mothers.—Professor
ALEXIS V. PAULITAN, ofthe Paris Lying-in
Hospital, member of the Medical Academy of
France, Corresponding Secretary of tho Paris
Plmrmacenticul College, respectfully begs leave
to announce to the Ladies of America, that he
has oppointed Dr. Jerome Y. C. Ropknhurty,
of New York, his sole American Agent, for the
sale of his wonderful medicine, known in Franco
as Tho Wife’s Friend, or Mother’s Assistant the
most extraordinary medical discovery the world
has ever seen. Its province is to Lessen the
Pains of Child-Birth, and promote a safe, easy,
and speedy delivery, which it does by assisting
nature. It Is perfectly harmless, efficacious,
pleasant to the taste, nnd never fails to promote
un easy and safe delivery, and improves tho gen
eral health of both mother and child. It lias been
tested for vears in all the principal Lying-In Hos
pitals of Europe, nnd receives tho sanction of
nearly all the proiniuent Colleges and Medical
men of the old world. It is tiiogreatustmudicine
pursuing 1 the'occupation of a farmer. Ono day
white chopping in the wood*, I fooliVhly.choppwl
uiy foot nearly off, instead of thq tree k During
thisihisfortnuo I employed niysclf in perusing the
‘rngmcntleiives'o'rktt old Vbltuhe, printed in Eiig*
land Rome hundred years ago. Among these
scattered leaves I road of an herb .which'had been
analyzed by some of Eifg[and’s ancient Alche
mists, showing properties and qualities never bn.
fore found in any p out that was eVer discovered.
This one herb, under tHfc forco ofthe Retort
and Crucible, developed more than ten distirtet
I ropertie8. This fhet struck my mind so forcibly,
that it was impossible to get rid of it. , Something
seemed to tell me that Providcnce, whose special
care is extended towards all Ilia creatures, had
nevor concentrated into one’small herb so many
medicinal qualities, as voriousund ns complicated,
(though perfectly identical as the human blood,
without a wise and good purpose. • Here was to
ho found the acids, the alkalis, the oils, tho water,
the air, tho salts, the .soda, &c., all combined, con
centrated. nnd chemically united into one single
lenient of power, forming a substance more al
lied and in affinity to the human blood than was
ever before discovered in the works of nature.
Laboring under theso impressions for several
years, I became uneasy, discontented, and un
willing to confino myself longer to tho duties ofi
farmer.
Every thing scorned to point my mind too it
object, viz.: tho preparation of this herb into
medicine. I then determined to return to tho city
uf N. York. I did so, and immediately inquirer!
for tho herb. It was not to bo found. I then
rent to Europe aud there fonud it under another
name.
Having prepared tho article to my satisfaction,
f gave it away to all who would use it. Hun
dreds, I might say thousands, took it iiito their
families and used it: some for one tiling and
some for another, and all from the very fint to
the very lust, pronounced it of unrivaled excel?
euco and power.
The first case that came under my observation,
was a man that had lost the uso of his arm for
some years. The .Ointment restored his arm
I completely in a few days. This surprised me as
1 much ns it did the patient. After him there came
a man with sore eves produced by gunpowder—a
very bad coho indeed. Ono box only sufficied to
mako n perfect cure. And I would here remark
that hundreds havo been cured of sore oves
who never found any relief but iu tnis Oint
ment.
Theroncxtcame a woman who was Buffering
excruciating pain from the agno iu tho face.—
Her physician (thinking it the toothache,) had
oxlructcd elovon of her teeth. But tho difficulty
stifi remained as bad as ever. The Application
ofthe All Healing Ointment was attended with
iiumciliato cessation of pnin. Horftico however
begun lo swell, and the surface ivoa covered over
with pimples of eruption litre prickly hem. In
one liny all this disappeared. About the aatno '
time, n Indy made application with it for tho
headache ot long standing, mid a felling of tho
hair. Tim Ointment cured her heodrche, and
restored her hair. Since this, I have known tho
Ointment to cure cnsca often, twenty nnd forty
years standing. 1 hesitato not to say, dial it (a
almost an infallible remedy for this complaint.
About this timo tlmro wore two cases, ono of
Consumption, and tho other of Scrofula, wliiob
had bullied tho skill ol evory physician who pres
cribed. It was wonderful to witness tho eflectof
the Ointment on tliesu persons. Xu one would
believo it unless thoy hud personally witnessed it
Uut it did the work properly. There was no half
way business, for they recovered thoir health in a
lew months.
Sheitmntism, Fever, Qulnzy, Sore Throat, Cu-
lane oils Eruptions, diseases of the Spine, and
Nervous Complaints were treated with unheard
of success. But in Cheat diseases, such us Asth
ma, pain nnd oppression, I believe there is no bet-
ter remedy. Aho the common diseases, such as
Ulcer Sores. Scald Head, Humors ofthe Skin
Inflammation, Piles, Sore Eyes, Sprains, Bruises’
nnd Burns, it seems to bo a perfect antidote.—
People would come into the store smiling, wish
ing to know if I was really the Seventh Son, or
whether the Ointment that I gave them vvasindoed
allmealing in its nature. For said they, not one
single application has failed to cure.
Liver Complaint, particularly, was treated with
grentand universal success.
It produced ouch good resuita in all caeca that il
has been nuiaed abroad, and I wna oll'cred Bums of
money for n receipt to make it for private use
merely. Lvcry inuu spoko well or it, an it had
done8o much good.
Notwithstanding all, I havo been careful not to
recounnen d a except iu cases I knew it would do
good. I wa. raver willing to lend myself to any
tiling Without first tenting its merits. This I en
deavor to do on every occasion, and when I acted
as one of tho Sick Committee.m the Lodge of I
O. of O. F. I then tested it upon lirothers in the
