properties. This fhet struck mV mind eo forcibly,
that it was impossible to get ridTof it. Something
seemed to tell me that Providence, whose special

Laboring uuder these impressions for several
years, I became uneasy, discontented, and un
willing to confine myself longer to the duties ofi

Every thing seemed to point my mind too n

PLATES.—Tliesubscribers beg to call the
attention of Builders, Architects and owners of
Buildings, to the ninny advantages which these
plates possess over all other metallic substances
hitherto used for roofing, &c.,as they possess at
once the lightness of iron, without its liability to
rust, having now been tested for several years in
this particular, both in this country and in Eu
rope. They are less liable to expansion and
contraction from sudden change of the atmos
phere, than common tin plates, iron, zinc, or any
other metal now used for roofing, und conse
quently form a much better and tighter roof; re
quiring far less frequent repuirs, whilst tho first
cost is but a trifle more.

to those about to become Mothers.—Professor
ALEXIS V. PAULITAN, oftlie Paris Lying-in
Hospital, member of tho Medical Acadeiny of
France, CoireBponding Secretary of tho Paris
Pharmacentical College, respectfully begs leave
to announce to the- Ladies of America, that ho
has Appointed Dh. Jerome Y. C. Ropenhurty,
of New York, his sole American Agent, for the
sale of his wonderful medicine, known in France
as The YVife’s Friend, or Mothor’s Assistant the
most extraordinary medical discovery the world
has ever seen. Its province is to Lesseu the
Pains of Child-Birth, and promote a safe, easy,
and speedy delivery, which it does by assisting
nature. It is perfectly harmless, efficacious,
pluusanl to the taste, and never Fails to promote
an easy and safe delivery, and improves the gen
eral health of both mother and child. It has been
tested for vears in all the principal Lying-In Hos
pitals of Europe, and receives the sanction of
nearly all tho'prominent Colleges and Medical
men of the old world. It is the greatest medicine
in the world ; as all frill admit that a medicine
must be that will lessen the terrible pains usually
uttendanton childbirth. There is no mistake a-
bout this medicine doing all thut is said ofit.
It never fails. It is iu the form of a fine, light
powder, to be inude into a drink, and used for a
jew weeks previous to the .expected event, nnd
its price is so low as to bring it within the reach
of all. Surely no humane husband will suffer
his wife to endure pain, when it can be so easily
and cheaply avoided. (\>r tile small snm of only

with pimples «f eruption like prickly heat. In
one day all this disappeared. About the aamo
time, a ladv made application with it for the
headache oflong standing, and a rolling of the
hair. The Ointment cured her headache, and
restored her hair. Since this, I have known the
Ointment to cure cases often, twenty and forty
yenrsstanding. 1 1 hesitate not to say, that it is
almost au infallible remedy for this complaint.
AhotU this time there were two caaea, one of
Consumption, nnd the oilier of Scroftila, which
had baffled the skill of every physician who pros
cribed. It Was wonderful to witness the eflectof
the Oinunent on these persons. No one would
believe it unless they had personally witnessed it
But it did the work properly. There was no half
way business, for they recovered their health in a
lew months.
Sheuinatism, Fever, Qninzy, Soro Throat, Cu-
laneuus Eruptions, diseases of tho Spins, aud
Nervous Complaints were treated with unheard
ol success. Butin Chest diseases, such as Asth
ma, pain and oppression, I believe thero is no bet-
icr remedy. Afso toe commoa diseases, such as
Ulcer Sores. Scald Head, Huuioni of the 8kin
Inflammation, Piles, Sore Eyes, Sprains, Bruisei/,
and Burns, it seems to be a perfect antidote.—
People would come into the store smiling, wish
mg » know if I was really the Seventh Son, or
whether tho Ointumntthat I gave them was indeed
nll-qealing in its nature. For suid they, not one
single application hasfuiled to cure.
Liver Complaiut, particularly, Was treated with
greet and universal success.
It produced such good results in tdl cases that it
lias been Uttlscd abroad, aud I wus offered sums or
money for a receipt to make it for private uso
merely. Every man spoke well of it, as it had
(loueso much good.
Notwithstanding all, I have bcoh carefltl not to
recommend it except ill cases I know it would do
genii. I wa.nevor willing to lend myself to any
tiling without first testing its merits. This | en .

as one of too Sick Comdiitlee in dio Lodge of I.
O. of O. F. I then tested it upon BroUiere in toe

LODIAN—a new and elegant substitute
for Plaster cloths, Sutures, Bandages, See.—This
article has been found by all surgeons who have
tested it, far superior and more convenient than
former means of dressing incised wounds. For
burns, sore Nipples, ana eruptive diseases, it
has proved extremely efficacious. It is also
much preferable to court plaster and gold beater's
skin. It is not acted upon by water, and adheres
with almost incredible tenacity to the skin, keep
ing tho edges of the wound closely together, and
causing it t<*heal with hardly a perceptible scar.
A history oftho article, together with commu

“A Valuable Article.—Those suffering from
