Tmie Mrdicinr ha* acquired a vcr>' ex
tended and established reputation wherever
it has been used, based entirely on its own merits,
which its superior efficacy has alone sustained. The un
fortunate victim of hereditary dl*0M0, with swollen glands, con
tracted sinews, and bones half carious, has been restored to hoalth
and rigor. The scrofulous patient, covered with ulcora, loathsome to himself
1 end hia attendants, has been made whole. Hundreds of persons, who bad groaned
hopelessly for years under cutaneous and glandular disorders, chronic' rheumatism,
and many other complaint* springing from a derangement of the secretive organa

with regenerated conititutions, gladly, testify to the efficacy of this inestimable

Sec. 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor nnd Al
dermen of the City of 8avnnnah aud Hamlets
thereof, in Council assembled, and it is hereby
ordained by the authority of the same, That from
and nAer ihe passage of .this Ordinance there
shall be four Division 8ergeants of the City
Watch, instead of three as heretofore, and that
the additional Sergeant shall be subject to all the
existing Ordinances regulating the Sergeants of
the City Watch, and shall recqive the same com
pensation and give the same bond.
Sec. 2. Be it further ordained by the author
ity aforesaid, that the additional Sergeant, by this
Ordjnafeg created, sbjill be elected at the first
Wj* meeting,of Council, offer the Dassage of
this Ordinance,' and annually thereafter at the
same meeting with the other Officers of the
Watch.
Sec. 3. Be it further ordained by the authority
aforesaid, that all Ordinances and parts of Ordi-
nattdes militating against this Ordinance be, apd
that arfl hereby, repealed. > •

nance, SCUTTLES, &c.
See 1. That tho owner or owners of all build
ings over one story high, within the jurisdiction
of this city, that are now deficient of ladders and
scuttles, shall, before the expiration of thirty days
from the date of this Ordinance, cause said
buildings to be provided with a scuttle or open
ing iu the roof, close to the ridge thereof, of not
less than tweuty-six by thirty-six inches, with
steps up to - it ou the iusido, so that a person can
pass up and through upon the ridge ofthe roof
with safety aud facility. And the owner or
ownors of such building as shall not be provided
injtho time above mentioned, shall bo fined in a
sum not exceeding thirty dollars, and a further
sura, not exceeding twenty dollars, for every
thirty days which such building shall remain so
unprovided thereafter.
Sec. 2. That every building hereafter erected
within the limits of-thiscity, of whatever material,
being over one story high, shall have a scuttle or
opening in the roof close to the ridge thereof,
not less than twenty-six by thirty-six inches, with
steps inside, as mentioned in the first flection of
this Ordinance. And thn owner or owners of
every such building, so to be erected, unprovided
with such scuttle as aforesaid, shall be fined iu a
sum not oxceding thirty dollars, aud a further
sum, not exceeding twenty dollars, for every
thirty days which such building may remain so
unprovided.

Sec. 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Al-
dermah of the city of Savannah and Hamlets
thereof, in council assembled, and it is hereby or
dained by the authority of the same, that the first
paragraph of the said 9th section of the above
recited Ordinance be so altered us to read as fol
lows:—Be it further ordained, that all taxes now
imposed or which may hereafter be imposed by
any ordinance, shall (unless otherwise directed
by any existing Ordinance, or an Ordinance here
after to be made,) be paid to the City Treasurer
on or before thejff/leenfA day of May in each and
every year, and it shall be the duty of the said
Treasurer immediately after the said fifteenth day
of May in each and every year, to issue execu
tions against all and every person who shaft not,
on or before the said day, have paid his, her, or
their taxes.
Sec, 2. - Be it further ordained, That so much
of the said 9th section of the above recited ordi
nances us conflicts with this ordinance, be, and
the same are hereby, repealed.
