1) CA GINGER: Prepared and sold only at
Frederick Brown’s Drug and Chemical Store. N.
E. corner of Chestnut and Fifth Streets., Phila
delphia.
This Essence is warranted to possess in a con
centrated form, all the valuable properties of Ja
maica Ginger, and will be found, on trial, an ex
cellent Family Medicine. It is particularly re
commended as a tonic, to persons recovering
from fever or other diseases, a few drops impart
ing to the stomach a glow and vigor equal to a
wine-glass fuN of brandy or other stimulant with
out any of the debiliating effects, which are sure
to follow the use of liquor of any kind; and it
is therefore especially serviceable to children and
females. To the aged will prove a great com
fort; to the dyspeptic, and to those wnp are pre
disposed to gout or rheumatic affections, it gives
great relief; and to the inebriate who wishes to
reform, but whose stomach is constantly craving
the noxious liquor, it is invaluable-giving tone
to the digestive organs, and strengUi to resist
temptation; aud is consequently a great agent in
the cause of intemperance.

Never Despair—Yea can be Cured.
Philadelphia, July 26,1846.
To the Public.—i certify that before my remein-
berauce I became afflicted with what the Physi
cians called SCROFULA. It made its appear* *
ance by pain and swelling of thejoints—more es
pecially of my ankles, knees, wrists and elbows;
after which the glands of. my throat became in*
flamed aud swelled, attended with most excru
ciating pains. I was often confined entirely to
my bed, and for weeks together could not move
my neck or turn my head. Several physician*
attended me at different times—but they did not
appear to do me any good.
About a year ago I whs attacked with vomiting
which continued every few minutes all one night.
The next day ah eruption appeared on the sides
of my neck, which soon spread all over my neck,
head and face, with infiamation of my eyes and
eyelids, which destroyed my eye-lashes and caus
ed the hair to fall from off my head, and soon
the disease spread all over me; my limbs were one
entire scab. I could not bend my hands or arms .
without causing the skin to crack ojien, when .
the blood would run out. Some or roy finger
nails came off. Iu short. I was unable to get my
own living, and in this condition I called upon
Dr. JAYNE, in order that he might undertake .
my case. He directed me to take his ALTERA*
TIVE three times a day, and his SANATIVE
PILLS os often as I should find it jiecessary. I
have not taken his ALTERATIVE four months,
and am most happy to say that it has entirely
cured me. Caroline Newbkrrv,
