THE ORIGINAL DISCOVERER OF TUB
Genuine Townsend Sarsaparilla*
Old Dr. Townumd U now about 70 year* of ngr, nnd has

nf the GENUINE ORIGINAL " TOWNSEND SAR
SAPARILLA.* Being poor, he wn* com (wiled to limit It*
manufacture, by which means it has been kept out of mar
ket, and the sales circumscribed to those only who had
proved iU worth, and known Us value. It had reached
the ears of many,- nevertheless, as those persons who had
been healed ol* sore diseases, and saved from death, pro
claimed lu excellence nnd wonderful

clence ana e
many |rear* ago, that he had, by Ills skill,
science and experience, devised an article sfliich would be
of incalculable advantage to mankind when the mean*
would be furnished to bring It into univeraat notice, when
lu Inestimable virtues wouid be kbown and appreciated.
This time ho* come, the means are supplied; this
GRAND AND UNEQUALLED PREPARATION
is manufactured on the largest scale, and is called for
throughout the length nnd breadth of the land, especially
M It Is found ineapabie of degeneration or deterioration.
Unlike young 8. P. Townsend’s, it improves with age, and
never chances, but for the better: because it |a prepared as
scientific principles by a scientific man. The highest knowl
edge of Chemistry, and the latest discoveries of the art.-
have all been brought Into requisition In the manufacture
of the Old Dr’s Sarsaparilla. The Sarsaparilla root, it is
well known to medical men, contains many medicinal pro
perties, and some properties which nre Inert or useless, and
others, which if retained in preparing it for use, produce
fermentation and acid, which Is injurious to the system.
Borne of the properties of 8arsaperllla are so volatile, that
they entirely evnporate nnd are lost in the preparation, if
they are not preserved by a scientific pfMbs, known only
to those experienced in its uianufactiu^. Moreover, these
sslatils prineiplts, which fly otf in vapor, or as an exhala
tion. under heat, are tbe very essential mtdicU properties
ofthe mot. which t\v* to it alJ it* value.
Any person can boil or stew the root till they get a dam
Colored liquid, which is more from the coloring matter it,
the root than Dorn any thing else; they can then *trabs
Oil* Insipid or vapid liquid, sweeten with sour molasser
and then call it ^‘SARSAPARILLA EXTRACT or 81f
RUP.” Rut such Is not the article known as the
GENUINE OLD DR. JACOB TOWNSEND’S
SARSAPARILLA.
This is so prepared, that all the inert properties of the
Sarsaparilla root are first removed, every thing capable, of
becoming acid or of fermentation, l* extracted and rejected;
then every particle of medical virtue la aecnred ip a pure
and cancentratod form 5 apd thu* It is rendered Incapable of
losing any of lu valuable and healing properties : Prepared
losing any nf lu valuable and healing properties :
la this way, it is made the must powerful tgont in the
Cure ol innumerable diseases.
Hence the reason why we bear commendations on every
side in IU favor by men, women, and children. We find It
doing wonders In tho cure.of
CONSUMPTION, DYSPEP8TA, and LIVER COM
PLAINT, and in RHEUMATISM, SCROFULA,

ALEXIS V. PAULITAN, ofthe Paris Lying-in
Hospital, member of the Medical Academy of
France, Corresponding Secretary of the Paris
Pharmacentical College, respectfully begs leuve
to announce to the Ladies of America, that he
has appointed Dr. Jerome Y. C. Ropenhurty,
of New York, his sole American Agent, for the
sale of his wonderful medicine, known in France
as The Wife’s Friend, or Mother's Assistant the
most extraordinary medical discovery the world
has ever seen. Its province is to Lessen the
Pains of Child-Birth, and promote a safe, easy,
and speedy delivery, which it does by assisting
nature, ft is perfectly harmless, efficacious,
pleasant to the tusto, and nover foils to promote
an easy and safe delivery, and improves tho gen
eral health of both mother nnd child. It has boon
tested for years in ullthoprincipul Lying-In Hos
pitals of Europe, and receives the sanction of
nearly all the?prominent Colleges aud Medical
men of the old world. It is thegreatestmedicine
in the world ; os ail will admit tbata medicine
must be that will lessen the terrible pains usually
attendanton childbirth. There is 110 mistake u-
bout this medicine doing all that is said of it.
It never fails. It is in the form of a fine, light
f iowder, to be made into 0 drink, and used for a
ew weeks previous to tlio expected event, and
its price is so low as to bring it within the reach
of all. Surely no humane husband will suffer
his wife to endure pniu, when it can be so easily
ond cheaply avoided. For the small sum of only
$1,00. sent post paid to DR. JEROME Y. C.

very trifling cost. |^*No unpaid letters taken

jODIAN—a new and elegant substitute
for Plaster cloths. Sutures, Bandages, &c.—This
article has been found by all surgeons who have
tested it, fur superior and more convenient than
former means of dressing incised wounds. For
burns, sore Nipples, and eruptive diseases, it
1ms proved extremely efficacious. It is also
much preferable to court plaster and gold boater’s
skin. It is not acted uponby water, and&dheres
with almost incredible tenacity to the skin, keep
ing the edges of tho wound closely together, and
causing it to heal with hardly a perceptible scar.
A history ofthe article, together with commu
nications highly commendatory of its value from
Dr. J. Mason Worren of Boston, Erasmus Wil
