Sir—I have analyzed vour Groats and Bur
ley Powder, which you, having His Majesty’s
Letters Putent for the sole manufacturing of
tho sttinc, properly denominate “Patent Bar
ley and Patent Groats.” 1 have no hesi
tation in declaring them to bo genuine pow

1 consider it a public advantage, und of great
importance in tho medical world, that by your
mode of preparation, a valuable, tine, mucila
ginous beverage and food may bo obtained in
a few minutes.
I have also analyzed some samples,—imita
tions of your urticles,—which are “warrant

to be composition of different meals, conse
quently, neither pure Barley-water nor Oat-
gruel can be made from them.

covered for tho core of consumptions and
all diseases oftho breast ami lungs leading
to consumptions.
T O ALL AFFLICTED with those trou-
IdcHomn nflcctians, un immediate use of
this highly celebrated Specific is only neces
sary to convinco tho moat incredulous of it»
possessing qualities superior to any other
medical preparation vet discovered. Since
the discovery of this invaluable medicine,
numbers have experienced its salutary nnd
happy effects.—--[rs mild and gentle operations
nro much extolled by those who have used it.
In all cases of coughs, eohls, asthmas, and
other consumptive ulleclions, by tin; use of
this article they have been enabled to defeat
an enemy whoso attacks would otherwise
have been followed hv tho most al tinning con
sequence. This specific hits relieved and
cured the most violent cases in which other
medicines have tuilcd to give any relief. It
operates by gentle expectorations nnd ntnv
he given tu inluta nnd cftildron tvitli tho great
est satety.
Do La Montorat’s Columbian Vegetable
Specific has stood tho test of experience and
proved itself the most valuable remedy over
discovered fur the cure of Consumption and
Pulmonary affections ofevery kind.
Tho following certificates, just received
from highly respectable gentlemen will show
its value:
Baltimore County, Feb. 14th 1839.
Gentlemen—I feel it my duty to acknowl
edge tho great benefit I have derived from tho
use of Do La Montorat’s Columbian Vegeta-
bio Specific. I do not like to speak of tho
Medicine in tho exalted terms in which 1 esti
mate it, I will, therefore, ns brielly as possible,
give it histoty of my own situation, with the
effects produced by this valuablo medicine.—
I have been, for the last fivo or six years, la
boring under a pulmonary Consumption, pro
nounced to bo such by the attending physi
cian, during which tiino I have consulted
many physicians, taken much medicine, but
all to hut little purpose. The 12th of March,
1838,1 puked blood fur the first time, anti con
tained so to do lor soveral days in succession,
and on the 14th oftho samo month was con-
fined to my bed, where I lay for two months
until I was reduced to such a state of debility,
that my friends began to despairof my rccovo-
ty. I liad made into also of all. the popular
remedies without benefit, and having acciden
tally hoard of this Specific, 1 determined to
give it atrial, anticipating from the use of it,
tin hotter result than Imd attended the usa of
nil tho remedies I had taken; but in this I was
happily disappointed. At my very lowest
Btnto I commenced tho use of this Specific.—
I took tho first doso at night in a littlo herb ten,
sweetened, which threw tno in a gentle per
spiration and procured for mo a good night’s
rest. I continued to take tho medicine as di
rected, and in about five days my cough was
completely stopped nnd have not had any re
turn since. I am now perfectly satisfied of
the superior quality of tins Specific over every
other medieino offered for tho euro of the
above disease. You are at liberty to use this
letter in any way you may think proper
