Sir—I have analyzed vour Groats and Bar
ley Powder, which you, having His Majesty’s
I ."Mora Patent for the solo mutiiifiM’turing of
the same, properly denominate “Patent Bau
lky and Patent Groats.” 1 have no hesi
tation in declaring them to bo genuine pow
ders of the. finest Harley and Oats / ever saw.
I consider it a public advantage, and of great
importance in the medical world, that by your
mode of preparation, a valuable, fine, mucila
ginous beverage and food may bo obtained in
a few minutes.
I have also analyzed some samples,—imita
tions of your articles,—which uro “warrant
ed free from adulteration, “these I pronounce
to be composition of different meals, conse
quently, neither pure Hurley-water nor Oat-
gruel can Ar made from them.
l am, Sir, your obedient servant,
RICHARD CLARKE,
To Mr. M. Rodjnson.
The above testimonial, from a gentleman
who lias already rendered the public much ser
vice by exposing various deleterious mixtures
and adulterations in articles of general con
sumption, added to the recommendation of
the medical profession, make it unnecessary
for the proprietors to do more than state, that
none are Genuine which do not bear tho word*

The subscribers having been appointed a-
gents fur the above articles and u ith a view of
introducing them in this city fur medicinal aud
other purposes, have just received a small
quantity, neatly put up iu h ilt* pound packa
ges, with directions for use. They feel as
sured from the great, demand for them in New
York, Philadelphia and Charleston, that a sin
gle trial will decidedly prove their superiority
to Arrow Root, common Barley, &c. as anu-
tritious food for children and invalids.

Baltimore County, Feb. 14th 1329.
Gentlemen—( feel it my duty to acknowl
edge t he great benefit I have derived from the
use of Do La Monterat’s Columbian Vegeta
ble Specific. I do not like to speak of the
Medicine in tin* exalted terms in which I esti
mate it, I will, therefore, as briefly us possible,
give a history of my own situation, with the
effect.x produced by this valuable medicine.—
I have been, lor the last live or six years, la
boring under a. pulmonary Consumption, pro
nounced to bo such by the attending plivsi-
cinu, during which time l have consulted
many physicians, taken much medicine, hut
all to hut little nurpose. The 12th of March,
1833, l puked blood for the first time, and con-
t mued so to do for several days in succession,
and on tho l ltli ofthc same month was con
fined to my bed, where 1 lay for two months
until I was reduced to such astute of debility,
that my friends began to despair of my recove
ry. I had made use also of all the popular
remedies without benefit, nnd havingneciden-
tally heard of this Specific, I determined to
give it a trial, anticipating from the use of it,
no bettor result than had attended the uaa of
all tho remedies I hud taken; but in this I wus
happily disappointed. At my very lowest
state 1 commenced tho use of this Specific.
I took tho first dose at night in a little herb ten,
sweetened, which threw me in a gentle por-
Bpirntion ami procured for me a good night’s
rest. I continued to take the medicine ns di
rected, atiil in about five days my cough was
completely stopped nnd have uot had any re
turn since. I am now perfectly satisfied of
the superior quality of this Specific over even*
other medicine offered for tho euro of the
above disease. You are at liberty to use this
letter in nny way you may think proper.—
Yours respectfully,
(Signed,) JOHN R. ELLICOTT,

I, Joseph N. Ruckle, do hereby certifv,that
for upwards ot six months, I was sevrrdly ut-
fiictcd with a pain in my broust, accompanied
with a very bad cough and shortness of breath,
and every indication (iathe opinion ofa plus-
icmn) of approaching consumption; after
having been persuaded by my parents, I was
induced to make trial of Do La Monterat’s
Colombian Vegetable Specific, and tho use of
three bottles completely restored mo to health.
