medicines have failed to give any relief. It
operates hy gentle expectorations and may

Do La Montorat’s Columbian Vegetable

discovered for the cure of Consumption and
Pulmonary affections of every kind.
The following certificates, just received
from highly respectable gentlemen will show

Baltimore. County, Feb. 11 th 18*29.
Gentlemen—I feel it my duty to acknowl
edge the great benefit I have derived from tlio
use of Do La Montorat’s Columbian Vegeta
ble Specific. I do not like to speak of the
Medicine in the exulted terms in which I esti
mate it, I will, therefore, ns briefly us possible,
give a history of my own situation, with tlio
effects produced by this valuable medicine.—
I have been, for the lust five or six years, la
boring under a pulmonary Consumption, pro
nounced to bo such by the attending physi
cian, during which time I have consulted
many physicians, taken much medicine, hut
all to but little purpose. The 12th of March,
1828,1 puked blood for the first time, and con
tinued so to do for scvcrul duys in succession,
and on the 14th oftho same month was con
fined to my bed, whora I lny for two mnntlts
until I was reduced to such a state of debility,
that my friends began to despairof my recove
ry. I had made use also of all the popular
remedies without benefit, nnd having acciden
tally heard of this Specific, I determined to
give it a trial, anticipating from tlio use of it,
no better result thnn hud attended the uso of
all the remedies I hud taken; but in this I wob
happily disappointed. At my very lowest
state I commenced tho use of this Specific.—
I took the lirst dose at night in a little herb tea,
sweetened, which threw mo in o gentle per
spiration and procured for me n good night’s
rest. I continued to take the medicine ns di
rected, and in about five days lny cough was
completely stopped nnd liavo not had any re
turn since. I uui now perfectly satisfied of
tho superior qunlity of this Specific over every
other medicine offered for tho euro of the
above disease. You are at liberty to use this
letter in any way you may think proper.—
Yours respectfully,
(Signed,) JOHN R. ELT.ICOTT,
Baltimore, Peb. 10th, 182ft *
I, Joseph N. Ruckle, do hereby certify, that
for upwards of six months, 1 was sevcrdly af
flicted with a pain in my breast, accompanied
wit it a very bad cough and shortness of breath,
and every indication (in the opinion ofaplus-
iciun) of approaching consumption; after,
having been persuaded by my parents, I was
induced to mnke trial of De La Montcrat’s
Colombian Vegetable Specific, and tho use of
three bottles completely restored mo to henlth.
