Sir—I have analyzed your Groats and Bar
ley Powder, which you, having His Majesty’s
Letters Patent for the solo manufacturing of
tho same, properly denominate “Patent Bau
lky and Patunt Groats.” I have no hesi
tation in declaring them to bo genuine poto-
ders of the finest Barley and Oats I ever saw,
I consider it a public advantage, aud of great
importance in the medical world, that by your
modo of preparation, a valuable, fine, mucila
ginous beverage and food may be obtained in
a few minutes.
I have also analyzed some samples,—imita
tions of your articles,—which are “warrant
ed free from adulteration, “these I pronounce
to bo composition of different meals, conse
quently, neither pure Barley-water nor Oat-
gruel can be made from them.
I am, Sir, your obedient servant,
RICHARD CLARKE.
To Mr. M. Ronj.vsoN,
The above testimonial, from a gentleman
who has already rendered tho public much ser
vice hy exposing various deleterious mixtures
nud adulterations in articles of gcucrul con
sumption, added to tho recommendation of
the medical profession, make it unnecessary
fi>r tho proprietors to do more than state, that

Gentlemen—I feel it my duty to ncknowl.

I have been, for tho last fivo or six years, la

many physicians, taken much medicine, but
ull to but little purpose. The 12th of March,
1828,1 puked blood fur tho first timo, and con
tinued so to do for several days in succession,
nnd on the I4th of the samo month was coil-
lined to my bed, where I lay for two months
until I was reduced to such astute of debility,
that my friends began to despnirof my recove
ry. I had made uso also of all tho popular
remedies without benefit, and having acciden
tally heard of this Specific, I doteriiiinoil-lo
give it a trial, anticipating front tiie uso of it,
no hotter result than had attended the uso of
all the remedies I hml taken; but in this I was

I took tho first dose at night in a little herb tea,

rectod, and in about fivo days my cough was
completely stopped and havo not had any re
turn since. I am now perfectly satisfied of
tho superior quality of this Specific over every
other medicine olfiirod for tiio euro of tiio
