Baltimore County, Feb. M/A 1829.
Gentlemen—I feel it my duty to acknowl
edge tho grout bonofit I havo derived from the
use of Do La Monterat’s Columbian Vegeta
ble Specific. I do not like to speak o? the
Medicine in the exalted terms in which I esti
mate it. I will, therefore, as briefly ns possible,
give a history of my own situation, with the
effects produced by this valuable medicine.—
1 have been, for the last five or Bix years, la
boring under a pulmonary Consumption, pro
nounced to be such by the attending physi
cian, during which time I havo consulted
many physicians, taken much medicine, but
all to but little purpose. The 12th of March,
1828, l puked blood for the first time, and con
tinued so to do for several days in succession,
mid on tho 14th of the samo month was con
fined to my bed, where I lay for two months
until I was reduced to such a stato of debility,
that my friends began to despairof my recove
ry. I had made use also of all the popular
remedies without benefit, nml having acciden
tally heard of this Specific, I determined to
give it n trial, anticipating from the use of it
no better result thun had attended the two'of
all the remedies I had taken; but in this I was
happily disappointed. At my very lowest
stum 1 commenced the use of this Specific.—
Hook the first dose at night in u littfo herb tea,
swedtened, winch throw mo in tt gentle per
spiration and procured for me a good night’s
rest. I continued to take tho medicine ns di
rected, and tn about live days my cough was
completely stopped und havo not find any re
turn since. 1 uni now perfectly satisfied of
the superior quality of this Specific over every
other medicine offered for tho cure of the
above disease. You are at liberty to use this
letter lit any way you may think proper.—
