In plore of die Royal William's accounts, benefiting
they appear to have injured the Cotton Market; we
nevrr knew it duller then yesterday—IcaloUU bale*
were reported on speculation end as many the day
before,' but these sales are so conducted and .-o much
is said of them by the seller# that they do not reroi.o
that degree of credit on-change which ordinarily ha*
attended such transactions, in fact they os well a# tbe
short crops are «up|io*cd to have one common origin.
Since Friday 10U00 hales have been sold, and y ester-

ending the lstinsu were only 19,500 bales, of which
5,700 were taken by speculators, and since then, the

Bpinncra and manufacturer complain that they have
■ bed trade in Yarns and Goods, die stocks or which
are accumulating and that they ure canyiog on busi-
.aesa to a considerable loss while cotton continues so
MfUj they therefore not only purchase sparingly, but
in some instances are shortening their hour* of work.
Several spinners are now working only eight hours a
day instead of twelve, which of course materially les
sens tbe consumption; Holders of cotton ao not at
present feel disposed to give way in price, under the
