From sixty to seventy Indian wnniors hnve come

ihntsinceitsconiniencement such n thing Inis not
happened. This fact, joined to the report brought
by those who hnve surrendered, that many of their
brethren nso about to follow their example, affords
a strong ground of hope that the war may saan he
terminated.
At Fort Fanning, eleven wnriiors came In on or

of things. Some of the delegation are with the Com

RESUMPTION.
Bickncli’s (Philadelphia.) Ue.porter of Tuesday
hritsnys, “ The evident tendency nf our money mar
kot is to contraction. Our renders will remember
that wo predicted some time sincp, that n's lim period
of general restiptiun approached, money would he
come more in demund. Tliis prediction is already
fully verified. Wo lire told by those who have the
best opportunities of knowing, thut even now thorn
is no scarcity—that capitalists were- never moten
bunduntly supplied—thut tlio banks never held lur
ger balances. But tlm disposition id to hold mm
few weeks longer, in order to witness thuproghiss
nnd tlie results of resumption, before making nny
new investments. It is this feeling which lias in
creased the price within the Inst month, from 5.) n
G percent per annum, to 9 and 10, for the same
d* scriplion of pnpor. Our hunks are of course dis
counting liulo or nothing. They have oil conducted
their oflliir* with much propriety for the list six
months, nnd with a view to readiness fur the con
summation ofthe law.
Nothing new in relution to the resumption qties
tiori. It uppears toim conceded,'on all hunds^that
tho attempt will be made on the 15th by all nu,-
hunks, nnd that it will prove successful if n proper
disposition be manifested an lha part of tlm public
und especially if tlio Legislature authorize the is
sue of rmall notes. Specie is already more abun
dant in oor city.
Tho Now York Journal of Commerco says—Crr
tifibutes nf deposit issued by tlio Merchants’ Bank
of Now Orleans, and payable at future periods, have
recently appeared in this market, to the Amount of
$150,000, perhaps much more. They are offered
nt very fuvornble rates, and in exchange for the noie*
of our merchants. A* tho Merchants'Bunk of Now
Orleans is known to be owned and controlled Ly tlio
U. S. Bunk nf Pennsylvania, tha suspicion is nt
nnen excited that this is only the old piny of raising
tlm wind, in another form. It wn* onn of the con
ditioas ofthe loan to the Philadelphia Bunks, that
no bank there should issuo any other post notes than
thoso made for the loan. Tba intention was, that the
credit of the Banks should not bn put in market in
any shnpe, oxcppt in .'the. regular course of banking
operations. The certificates of deposito now offered,
are said to lie put out on account pf some Bank up
the Mississippi river; but the shape of the thing is
not satisfactory, and the certificates will probably
be of difficult salo. ,
Letters from New O. loans say tho Banks there
will not resume specie payments;—that tho influence
of the Merchants Bank will prevent it.
