NEW-ORLEAN8, Dec. 1.
Cotton.—Since our review of last Saturday mor
ning there bos becu a tolerably fair business doing
in cotton, though the market nas throughout main
tained a rather quiet character, as buyers have op
erated with considerable reluctance at the rates
previously current, and holders have not beendis-
>osed to submit to any concessions in order to ef
fect sales. Some transactions have taken place in
fair enttou, and qualities above, for the Northern
manufactories, but the bulk of thcT sales have been
in the middling and middling fair descriptions, for
England and France, though principally for the for
mer market. Altogether the market has exhibited
an uuusually steady character, and our former quo
tations, therefore, are continued. The sales of Sa
turday amounted to 3500 bales, on Monday 3200,
and yesterday to 3300, making a total of 10,000
bales during the three days.

AUGUSTA, Dec. 8.
Colton.—'The receipts of Cotton during Ihe past
week have not been as heavy as usual at this season
of the year, and is generally attributed to the bad
weather of the past week, and to (be very low
price of the present season. The demand for fair
and choice Cottons continue good at tho prices of
tho past week; while buyers continue to require re
ductions on the lower qualities. Many of our plan
ters ore storing their cotton, not being willing to
take the present rates. We quote as extremes, 64
a8) cents; while mostsales of crop lots are made
at a7jeonts. Square bales always command 4
of a cent more than round.
Dry Goods, Groceries, 5fc.—As the receipts of
cotton have been light, the business with the inte
rior baa been equally light. The stocks of goods
are heavv, and there is no scarcity of any article
that we (cnowofinany brach of the trade.
About 12,000 lbs Western sides of Bacon were
sold, to-day, 54 cts, short time. A few small par
cels of new Bacon have; been received, and sold
from wagons at 8 cts, hog round.
Country Flour sells from wagons at $ 6 a 6 60
per bbl. and is in good demand.
Exckango— For tho past week has not been as
abundant as in the early part of the season, and the
rates on New-York are 1 per cent, rremium for
city notes, and 2 per cent for the notes of specie
paying country banks.
Frughts—Continue at old rates; 60 cts. to 8a.
vannan per bale, and 25 cts. per 100 lbs, for
square, and 35 cts per 100 for round bales to
Charleston per rail road.
Oar river is in fine boating order.—Chronicle.
HAMBURG, Dec. 8.
Owing to the bad condition of the roads to mar
ket, the arrival of Cnttan has been somewhatslack
until to-day, not having received more than 2500
bales for the week ending this hour of reporting.
The roads are getting better, and we look for a
heavy supply the next coming six days.
The transactions of the past week have varied
but little in prices from those quoted last week. Up
to the time of our report, the extreme prices were
from 6 to 84 cents, Carolina money. Principal
sale* 71 to 8 cent*. A choice planter's lot would
bring 64 cents. The market is brisk at these rates,
and perhaps will remain so for some time, unless
later and worse accounts arrive in the meantime.
We have no alteration, as yet, to make in the
prices of the other branches of business.
Freights—To Charleston for square bales cotton,
85 cents per 100 lbs.; for round Mies, 35 cts.

NEW YORK, Dec. 4.
Coffee.—Continues very dull, the trade purchas-
ig only in small lots for immediate use. The
Cotton.—'The market since our last has been de-
fair New-Orleans and Upland we further reduce
our quotation 1 of a cent per lb. The transactions
embrace 1700 bales Upland end Florida, at 7J a 94
cents; 250 Mobile, 84 a 104; end 150 New-Orleans,
8 a 104—making a total for the week of3760 bales.
Flour.—The market for Western Flour since
our last, owing to unfavourable weather, the largo
quantity nfloat, the anxiety of some holders to real
ize, the increasing scarcity of money, and the al
most total absence of demand for home use, has
exhibited no filature save that of excessive dullness,
and prices in consequence are fully 25c lower, and
in some instances to effect sales a decline of 374o
has been submitted to. On Tuesday and Wednes
day, (not before noticed,) 3500 bbls common brands
Genesee were sold for export to Liverpool, at 6,50;
subsequently, 500 do at 96.374; and 3 a 4000 do at
93,25. Besides these, a parcel of 400 bbls Gene
see was disposed of (probably in an emergency.)
at $6,124. We now g ote Genesee, $6,25; Ohio,
$6,124 a 6,25; Troy, $6,25; and Michigan, $6,124.
It must be remarked, however, that most of the
Urge receivers require $6,374 and $0,50 for Gene
see, and other sorts in proportion—our quotations
are the rates at which sales hnve been made, and at
which more is still otfered for sale. Southern, ow
ing to the firmness of holders, is without change in
prices, with a very moderate demand for home use
only. The stock of Georgetown is not Urge, and
other sorts are scarce.
Molasses.—We have only to notice sales of40
hhds. New-Orleans, at 20 cents; 164 Porto Rico, 21
a 25, the later price for prime; and 60 Trinidad
Cuba, 20 cents, all 4 mos. No further receipu of
new crop.
Provisions.—'The market for the various descrip
tions of Beef and Pork is without change, with
sales only us wanted for immediate use. Old
Lard is selling atOJ a 7 cents; and New, City Ren
dered, at 8; Hams. 9 a94; Smoked Beef, 7; Bacon
Sides, 64; and Dressed Hogs, 4 a 44. Butter is
plenty, and dull for all qualities helow prime.—
Cheese is in fair demand at 64 a 7 cents for casks,
and 7 a 74 for boxes.
Rice—We have no material alteration to notice
in this article. About 350 tierces found buyers du
ring 1 ho week at $3 25 a $3 60, cash.
Spirits—Foreign descriptions continue dull, and
we hare only to notice sales of 15 hf- pipe* A.
Seigr.ette Brandy at 91 15. With a small discount;
10 J. J. Dupnv,874cents; 15hhds. S .Croix Rum,
83 a 87; and Id a 20 puncheons Irish Whiskey,
91,40 a $2,25 for groin and malt, all 0 mos. Drudge
Whiskey sells slowly at 22 cents; 150 handsome
bbls. brought21 cents.
Freights.—To Liverpool and London continue
active, and to both ports Urge quantities of Flour
are going forward at our quotations. To the form
er, aa advance on Cotton is now demanded. To
Havre, the packet of the Sthinst. is full at our quo
tations.
Exchange.—Foreign Exchanges generally ere
heavy, with little or nothing doing.
MEW YORK, Dec. 4.
Cotton.—'The kales of the week ending last even
ing, amounted to abouut3?50 bales, embracing
2950bales Upland,at7| a 10 cents;600 Mobiles:
84 a lO^; and 300 New-Orleans at 8al0| cents.
The arrivals during the same period were 3928
hales. Prices, as compared with Saturday last, are
4 of a cent lower. We quote upland lair 9 a 9/
good and fine 94 a 10; New Orleans, fairOl * 10j
good fine 11 n 114 cents.
Flour and Grain.—The flour market U rather
unsettled, and presents at its close two seU of
prices. All the large receivers are demanding $6,-
50 for common brands canal, and refuse to sell for
less. There are however, smaller receivers in tho
market, who are either unwilling or unable, in the
present state of the money market, to boldon.wbo
supp ly all the lots which are demanded at$6,25
One sale has been made, under particular circum
stances, at $6,124. Under these circumstances
we quote Genesee at 96,25 a 6,50; Michigan at
$6 a $0,124, >nd Ohio $7,25 a $6.50.
The flour sold for shipment to England since the
the arrival of the last steam-packet, amounts now
to 30,000 barrels, and more we understand would
go forward did not shippers consider freight as too
