F OR regulating the election, qualification and
duties of City Surveyor, to fix the number of
foel of porticos, railings, enclosure* and pavement*,
and to regulate the same; and for the belter keep
ing the squares, streets, {mblic places nnd wharves
und dock* of the City of Savannah free and clear
of obstructions, and for other purpose* connected
therewith.
Sec. 5. “Be it further ordained, That no person
shall bring, lav, or came to he brought, laid or put
uny timber, bricks, stones, or other material* for
budding, or firewood, goods, warcsoriiiercluindisc,
nr oilier bulky thing whatsoever, and permit and
suffer the same to continue ami remain in any
square, street, lane or alley within the said City for
u longer time than six hours, nor shall any person
permit or sutler any cart, dray, wagon or carriage
of any sort to stand ami remain in any square,
street, lane or alley, longer than such lime a*afore-
suid,” nor shall any person, without previously ob
