Tybee Light.
The Collector of the Port of Havaunohhns pub
lished the following notice:—
Custom House, l
Collector's Office, Savannah, Nov. 11,1841. S
Notice it hereby gieen, that the light House on
Tybee bland, having undergone a thorough re
pair, was lighted up on Monday night tho 8tliin*t.
and the temporary light removed. This structure
is 109 feet from the basement to the top of tin:
Lantern, and is placed upon att elevation of about
21 feet above the level of the sen.
The Lantern contains 15 full sixteen inch reflec
tors, with lamps of the latest aud most approved
construction, resting upon an arch laid wiUia Soap
Slant deck, so as to guard against the risk of firu.
Aboot eleven feet of the upper part of the tower
was found defectives taken down and rebuilt, and
the Light Houses now at the entrance of tho Port
of Savannah, are not surpassed by any on the
Coast of the United States.

In Washington city, ou Sunday lost. Cot. JOHN
W. HUNTER, Doorkeepcrof the House of Rep
resentatives. aged about 70 years. Col. H. served
in the Revolutionary war with fidelity and bravery,
aud was iu the battle of Euluw nnd other hard-
loiight fields. He was a native of Virginia, hut for
u long time u citizen of Georgia prior to his remo
val to this city, iu which he had resided many of tho
last years of his life. Here, as everywhere, he was
esteemed for tho integrity, simplicity, mid benevo
lence of his character, lie lias left many worthy
aud respected descendants to lament his dentil.
At Louisville, Ky., Mrs. McLEAN,wife of Hon.
John McLean, Judge of the U. S. Supreme Court.
Her remains were brought to this city yesterday,
